My aunt is currently doing a family search of her father's, RITSON (David & Sarah). We will be visiting the area and are also hoping to find the Fairview Church Cemetery on Lauraldale Rd. ANY help will be greatly appreciated since my aunt does not have a computer and has to go to her local library for info.

If you are coming south on route 51, you will go thru Perryopolis. At the end of perryopolis, you will come to a 4 way intersection,[there are 2 gas stations on the right and a small 2 lane bridge with concrete buntments on the left] Continue straight and you will pass Gene and Boots Candy Store on the right, after you pass the candy store you will go under the overpass. After you go under the over pass continue south on 51 until you see a very small bar on your left called Pizons. Make sure that you are in the right lane because you will come up on a 4 way intersection as soon as you pass Pizons [the bar].[go very slow or you will miss the intersection] You will see a very small restraunt on your left and a large dirt parking lot with a house behind it on your right. Turn right at this intersection, it's called Tippicanoe Road. The road is narrow and curvey so be careful. Stay on this road until you come to a stop sign.[Watch, because the stop sign is going down a small grade and comes up pretty quick! You will know your coming to the stop sign when you round a right sharp curve and see a high drop off down into the creek on your left. There are guide rails along the left of the road and a high hill of rocks on the right. Turn right at the stop sign, go around the curve on the hill. Then almost before you get to the top you will see a sign that reads Fairview Church on the right. There is a small house on the right on the knob of the hill next to the church entrance and a house on the left of the entrance. If you can't find it, just stop to ask someone out there. Everyone is very friendly in the area and will help you. My 2 sons attended Fairview Church years ago and I lived there for several years, but i didn't know your relatives. I think the church has been closed for several years. I don't know if it reopened. Post back to let me know how your trip is. Good Luck in your family search!

There is a traffic light at the end of Perryopolis at the 4 way intersection where the gas stations are. There are only 2 stop lights in Perryopolis on 51. The gas stations are at the second one. You'll see a Save A Lot on the left and a big building with a high fenced in lot across from the store, just before the first stop light. It will only take a few minutes to get to the second one. I hope I didn't confuse you.

Also, when I said that there is a house on the left at the church entrance, I meant that it is directly across the road from the church entrance and the small house on the knob is on the right side of the road, directly above the church entrance. Sorry I had to post so many times.

I thought you might like to know a little bit of information about your journey. Tippicanoe Road is named after the rural community Tippicanoe. It starts from 51 and extends to the stop sign. When you make the right at the stop sign you will be in Shandytown. It's a rural community known for it's few very small houses. Fairview Church is located in Laureldale, a rural area. If you go straight past the church to the next intersection and go straight {not right}, then bare to the left at the next intersection,:it goes around like a curve} then take the first road on your left {it's about a half a mile} you have to watch for the left because it's on a curve. This road goes down a steep hill into Grindstone. Grindstone consists of 4 communities and rural areas. You will be in Grindstone no. 4. If you need any assistance there, the fire station is on the right towards the bottom of the hill. Other parts of Grindstone are Rowes Run, Red Hill, and New Hill. Grindstone covers a large area. There aren't any gas stations in Grindstone, so you might want to get gas at the last [2nd] traffic light in Perryopolis.
