Proposed Lakes bus service halted

LAKES REGION : Officials in Lakes Region towns were disappointed to learn this week that proposed weekday bus service from Harrison to Portland will not become a reality.

THEY ARE TOO WORRIED ABOUT THE STUPID SWING BRIDGE WHILE THE ENTIRE DOWNTOWN AREA IS WASTING AWAY, PUT IN A STANDING BRIDGE, CLEAN THE DOWNTOWN AREA UP AND MAYBE WE WILL GENERATE ENOUGH REVENUE FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. REPLACE THE SELECTMEN AND PUT IN PEOPLE WITH OUT THEIR OWN AGENDAS!

That's really too bad, I have been saying to friends and family for a couple years now that a bus service loop from 302 to 114 around the lake to intersect with the Portland Metro would be great! I think many people would use public transportation around the lakes region assuming it could be slightly more cost effective then driving to work 5 days a week in a average situation. I'm glad to hear some one else considered doing this. I bet this idea still has a future. I guess we will see. Lastly rising fuel costs should only make this more practical.
