"Old Klondike factory burns", wrong, it is still there, the fire was not even close to the former plant. Where the reporter got this information is beyond me. The Sun screwed up on this story big time, what else is new. The paper tomorrow should have a headline saying, "Klondike plant still stands, we blew it".

Yeah.. I was wondering what they were talking about. I could have sworn cause of all my friends talking about the old klondike factory during high school, that it was in the south of hanover.

The old Klondike plant is next to the lot where the fire was but the building that burned was not even close to the plant. The lot is quite large with a number of other buildings on it which did not burn. It also used to have a lot of greenhouses on it which have been torn down. The old Klondike plant many years ago was Bupp's Dairy which is on York St., Route 116, and is east of Hanover.

Scotty, you hit the nail on the head. The article is also very poorly written.

Yes, the building next to the smoke stack, must be the oldest one on the property.

Interesting that a fire in a VACANT building that is scheduled to be demolished anyway for more houses. Wonder if it really is cheaper to haul away ashes than building debris?? Seems fishy to me.

What do you expect. This is the Hanover Sun. If you want good writing and journalism try the school papers in the area...the middle school papers! And people wonder why no one buys papers anymore.

The Times story was better, but they still didn't get it right. Sieck hasn't owned that property for at least two or three years and they closed their Hanover facility over a year ago which was located in the old Klondike building! Burkentine owns the property that burned.

The Evening Sun is in it for Shock Value, the writers lack true newspaper experience, it clearly shows ! What do you expect from a small entity ...

Klondikes, so tell me a little history, they were made here in Hanover ?

Yes they were, in the former Bupp's Dairy building which is next to the York Street Treat.

Klondike ice cream was made there from roughly '79(maybe a little earlier) to 1993. I went by yesterday morning on my way home frompicking up my son expecting to see the old Klondike building to the ground or at least some fire damage. I was very perplexed in seeing the entire building standing. Guess it wasn't that building. It was around the corner; in the same complex just the wrong building.

It is a shame that the local paper does not even know where a building on fire is located. The fire was on Brookside Ave. off of York St. It was not even that close to the old Klondike building. The fire was in the old greenhouses that Cremer Florist owned. They were bought by Sieck Florist who also bought the Klondike building.

The property with the greenhouses is now owned by Burkhardt (spelling?) Builders. It is to be used for townhouses that stirred up all the emminent domain issues with the house on the corner across from Center St.
