I shan't argue w/ you regarding racism in the area, not at all. To categorize all such as "You whites are racist" is akin to saying that about other races concerning similar issues. This is just one of the reasons that animosity is prevalent in the area. Perhaps meaningful dialog can take place to where we will discover that we all have much to say that would prove to be beneficial.

The word "great" ought to be used for those who actually accomplish just what the word says. The neighborhood mom, for ex, who has an open door for the children; or the local shop keeper who knows the importance of dialog. It's just such people who encourage others to take risks.

After becoming weary of hearing the persistent chatter that Barack Obama might be a Muslim, I decided to dig a little deeper and take an objective look at his church and its statement of faith.
Trinity United Church of Christ is an 8,000 member congregation in Chicago that has been pastored by Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. since 1972. The church is the largest congregation in the United Church of Christ, a denomination that is widely known for its liberal political views.
Hoping to silence the Muslim rumors, Obama recently admitted that he found Jesus through Pastor Wright who is one of his mentors. In 1991, Obama joined the church in a formal ceremony, signifying his acceptance of the Christian faith and his allegiance to Trinity. Wright also performed the marriage ceremony for Obama and his wife Michelle Robinson, and baptized their two daughters.
Barack's pastor is one of the first people he thanked after his election to the Senate in 2004. Also, the title of Obama's bestseller "The Audacity of Hope" comes from one of Wright's sermons.
Barack's church has been under fire for many years. Of all the alleged racist activities of Trinity United Church, one of the most controversial issues is their adoption of the Black Value System. The Black Value System was written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee in 1981 and states:
"We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System."
Tucker Carlson of MSNBC described Trinity United Church as having a "racially exclusive theology" that contradicts the basic tenets of Christianity. Sean Hannity of Fox News said, "If a white presidential candidate's church had a similar statement and you substitute the word black for white, there would be an outrage in this country."
In another controversial move, in December of 2007 Trinity United Church awarded Louis Farrakhan its highest social achievement award. According to the church, the award is designed to: "Honor socially conscious giants who commit their life's work to saving the lives of Africans on the continent and in the Diaspora."
Apparently, Pastor Wright has been a key supporter of Louis Farrakhan for many years.
Farrakhan has repeatedly made statements targeting America, Jews, and homosexuals. He has called white folks "blue-eyed devils." He has described Jews as "bloodsuckers" who control the government and the media.

Here's the problem - His judgement!- He's picked a woman who hates the United States but has chosen to stay here and accept the comfort and security that only the US can provide. He's chosen a church where the theme is hatred of the United States but the whole congregation remains tax-exempt and chooses to stay in the United States for reasons that can only boil down to treason. He's aligned himself with fund raisers of very questionable character and has taken their contributions for his campaigns. He is actually to the left of the early Communist party and is committed to income re-distribution in the form of giveaways.

I, for one, don't want this type of judgement in my president. Remember, you are known by the company you keep.

I am an American, I've served my country in the military,, I've just sent in my 55th tax return - know what - I'm allowed to be a racist, I'm allowed to be a christian, I'm allowed to discriminate against stupidity, or weight, or ugly or anything else that I don't care for. That's contradictory and defamatory. To act like the entire white race owes the entire black race anything is immature and delusional. Slavery was something that no one can make up for, and the injustices blacks suffered were inexcusable especially in this country. But believe me, blacks were not the only ones and are not the only ones sufferening today. Think of orientals in the 60s- a Chinese man couldn't even play a Chinese part in a Hollywood script. Today, Indians and middle easterns are looked upon as terrorists.

But believe me, whites and citizens of the Us aren't the only ones guilty of this. So for you to defame an entire race is this contradicting everything you stand for. You are racist yourself and only for one race, which is fine if that's how you want to be. But do not claim to be no racist because racism fits a definition much more broad of just not liking blacks.

Oh yeah, racism stems from the mind, not from color. It comes in all colors shapes and sizes. It's how you were brought up and socialized. Just look at yourself in the mirror, for example.

I see there is hate going on here to. At this time I will be voting for Obama, but not because he is black, but, because he has a plan. I am not sure what you have been watching or hearing ... there are alot of people including whites that will be voting for him. Not everyone is racist.

I served my country also,and feel like it has been a mistake at times. Some of my fellow citizens are mean and hateful and do not support the troops. To me if they did they would think twice about what they say!

Anyone think it's weird that Obama did the "pound" fist thing with his wife at a rally? I think it's so "black" of him, and quite frankly I don't trust the man. The Rev. that married him and his wife and Christened his children is crazy, and now he's got white preacher (even more scary to watch) hootin an hollerin about Hilary. If Obama wins this country will turn into a Sharpton style event. It's funny how all the blacks vote for him and they have no clue what he's all about. The blacks all say "yea Obama be the best he want Change". What the hell does Change mean? Change from Bush, fine I understand that...but it's like blacks just copy off of what other blacks do.
