Am I the only person in the town who has paid their $5.00 for a sticker?? I noticed the other day that my neighbor has 3 vehicles and NO stickers on any of them - not even old ones. They have lived here for a good decade longer than me. So I decided to look at all the cars parked in the driveways while walking in the morning - none of them have stickers and I walked a course of a good mile or so. Do I live in a village full of cheap pricks who refuse to pay the low $5.00 fee or I am wondering if you own a home here maybe you are excluded?? I'm thinking why should I be the only home owner in the town with a sticker?? Does anyone have an answer? I resent having to scrape old stickers off my windshield every year and I hate to think I am doing it when it isn't necessary. And so what happens if a cop ever pulls you over in this town and you don't have one on the car anyway?? Does it just cost the $5.00?? I'm thinking of joining all the other cheapies next year and go without the vehicle sticker. P.S.- and how do my neighbors manage to get a rebate check without giving their vehicle info anyway??

Nope, i bought mine for my truck $10 and for my daughters car $5. So you're not alone here. But i have noticed alot of vehicles in crestwood WITHOUT stickers. They look at it this way, until they get caught and get a couple of tickets, they are not going to buy the stickers

Seems to me that if the Crestwood police can NOT or will NOT enforce this most basic rule of law - are they even capable of enforcing anything at all?? If I were the police chief or the mayor I would spend a week doing nothing but ticketing everyone without a village sticker AND fine all offenders too. This is income due to the village and it can be used for needed items in it. If the police cheif and mayor turn a blind eye to this - should either one be in their positions?? I do not think so.

Hey part-time copper learn the law before you shoot your mouth off. You can not go onto a private residence's property and write tickets for vehicle stickers unless you have written permission. Didn't they cover this is your weekend warrior school?

I think the rules should apply to everyone or just get rid of the rule if you aren't going to do anything to enforce it. I was stopped in Midlothian in the past for what they called a "seat belt" check. They had put up a sign about 1/2 block ahead of the police blockade and it told you they were checking for belts. They had 2 or 3 cops doing it at a 4-way stop and it was on a SIDE ROAD which was a surprise to me since I was just cutting through their town. I suppose that might work for stickers. Meantime - I'm going to scan around my piece of town and if the people around me don't have them on their cars then I'm just not buying a sticker next year. It's such a hassle trying to take the old one off. Maybe Crestwood should become a town that doesn't have stickers at all?? That would be nice.

wow the 5.oo is going to break you or is it the 5 minutes of effort taking the old sticker off and putting the new one on. Be a leader. Set an example and when you do not get your rebate don't be a bitcher!

Are you kidding me, about 99.9% of what is said on this site is a bunch of BS.

But i am curious about one thing though, Hmmmm I wonder who the guy was that was on Playfield this morning about 7:55 am taking the picture of the water tower. I'm just waiting for that pic to show up on this site. Considering I got the make the model and even the license plate number of that vehicle. He should of really shut his door when he walked away from his vehicle. He's lucky that nobody jumped in his car while he was taking pictures. I wonder also, did he have to take his glasses off to take the pictures or did he leave them on??? And also, he did have some real thinning hair too.... Wonder who this could be??? HMMMM????

Just because the vehicles don't have stickers in their windshield doesn't mean they weren't purchased. I have vehicle stickers for all 4 of our vehicles - they're just not on the vehicles yet.

Maybe tickets haven't been issued because PD KNOWS who purchased stickers and who hasn't. PD knows how to do their job - leave them alone already!

Personally, I'd rather see PD out on the streets catching the "bad guys" than doing something like issuing tickets for stupid stickers.

Thanks for the feedback and info. I thought I was only one who bought a sticker for their car and that maybe people who owned homes had some kind of excemption for it that I didn't know about. I'll keep buying it every year and let the chips fall where they do for the other guys who won't pull the $5 out of their pocket. Just gets a bit frustrating when sometimes you feel the "rules" only apply to you.

I doubt the cops KNOW who has their stickers or not!! You think they really run around with some kind of a list in their cars?? If the "law" states you must have your sticker displayed then even if you have it and it's not on the car that is still breaking the law. Also - from what I've seen the cops run the other way rather than apprehend a "bad guy". This village needs real full time cops instead of a bunch of part time ones. I for one would gladly give up my full rebate to finance this.

DON'T underestimate the officers of the CWPD! You THINK you know ... well, you don't. "from what I've seen" - well, then, buddy ... you have NOT seen them in action - I HAVE.

"I for one would gladly give up my full rebate..." THEN QUIT TALKING ABOUT IT AND DO IT ALREADY! I see a lot of talk on the forum about people would gladly give up their rebate checks, but I don't see a single person taking their check and donating it back to the village - NOT ONE PERSON. You talk a big talk - let's see you just ONCE walk the walk!

Until then ... shut your trap about our police department!

Wow - Short Resident must be a pissed off cop? Shortie - I think many people donate a good portion of their rebate checks to the village but through their individual departments. I know I buy raffle tickets for the police, fire and "cema". I go to some of the breakfast, etc. I had a neighbor tell me the fire dept sent her a "2nd notice" when she failed to donate to the first one sent out. So Shortie - don't be such a meanie. And if you are a cop - make the village some money and enforce the village sticker rules through tickets and fines.

Your wrong about the legal issue regarding the vehicle stickers. A vehicle sticker is basically tax on the vehicel, and they can enter your driveway within reason and write the ticket. What is the differance if a car was in a condo lot or apartment lot,or at the mall. All of that property is private property. I wrote many of tickets for no village sticker and it didnt matter where the car was, the village maintaines a list of people that didnt buy a sticker.
