Perhaps it's time for Rep. Wilson to refer to himself as a yellow dog Democrat. I listened to him this morningdefending his cave-in on health care. I almost thought that I was listening to Nancy Pelosi.
I am so tired of hearing that, "14000 people a day are loosing their health insurance." This is somehow swupposed to be a fault of the current "system." It is, in fact the fault of Charlie and the Dems. The stimulus didn't, couldn't, stimulate - it is not being directed to things that will actually generate jobs - it is being directed to political payback. Unemployment continues to go up - that is why 14000 people a day are losing their insurance every day.
Do you want a couple of easy ways to save billions?
Tort reform - an OB/GYN has to purchase $200,000 of malpractice insurance before seeing his/her first patient out of fear of predatory plaintiff attorneys. Charlie and the other yellow dogs might pooh-pooh this idea by showing how few malpractice cases are actually adjudicated. But, that's not how the game is played. It's not the two or three billion dollar verdicts that happen every year, it's the tens of thousands of $500,000
out of court settlements that are the problem. Lawyers know full well that it is easier and cheaper to settle a frivolous case than to fight it.
Federal and State health care mandates - insurers in most states can not offer stripped down catastrophic insurance anymore because federal and state govt. have required insurers to cover evry special condition of any group likely to vote. That's why co many of the young adults won't carry insurance. They don't need their Viagra covered. Men don't need coverage for breast cancer or mammograms. Women don't need coverage for prostate cancer or vasectomy. Seniors don't need coverage for pregnancy or birth control. All of these are regularly required by govermental mandate.

True, Charlie needs to grow a set instead of suckling on Mama Nancy's fugly apron strings.
