BRIDGEPORT—It’s official: Dave Dooley is out of a job.
We just got word that at a special meeting called tonight (Bridgeport seems to be having a lot of those lately), Dooley was removed from his position as police officer for the city.
The council removed Dooley, not on the basis of his recent arrest (see current issue), but because of a recent write-up on some infraction of his terms of employment….of which there have been several just this year, and this most recent one was the last straw for his employers. So apparently the city council took the time to ensure steps were taken so that if Fooley gets off on his current felony charge, he can’t come back on his former employers for wrongful termination…one of the few times the city has ensured such a step was taken, as they have been having some odd screwups as of late.
Dooley’s story has us filled with angst as there seemed to be a LOT of people, most of them public officials, willing to help us with the details during press week…but getting those details wrong. The story is fraught with inaccuracies, much to our pissivity. A quick way to get yourself outed as a source is to give us false or misleading information, and boy were we given it for this story. We don’t yet know what the deal is with that, but we’re looking into it. Needless to say, the whole fuggin thing is probably going to have to be rehashed in the next issue, so look for that.
Among the incorrect info we learned tonight was that there is no “Mike Boren” involved (as we were told by a supposedly reliable source); instead, the person reportedly involved in the dope bust at Mark Boren’s house in Bridgeport was none other than Brian Foster, son of former Lawrenceville police chief Steve Foster. However, as we reported in this issue, to date, we can’t find any official charges against Boren or Foster, these reportedly regarding live pot plants that were found in Boren’s home and that Dooley was supposedly around for extended periods of time…without doing anything about them.
Hopefully we’ll have more as it develops, but for right now, Lawrence County is standing its ground that it has Dooley dead to rights on his current charges of Selling a Firearm to a person without a Valid FOID Card…and Bridgeport is down to one police officer.

Any idea what the supposed “infractions” were? I will bet there is much more to the story than what the Bridgeport Council is putting out.
Being dismissed from the law enforcement community in Lawrence County for “infractions” is like being thrown out of the John Dillinger Gang for stealing a pack of gum. They usually throw someone out for being too honest or too professional, not “infractions”, look at what they keep on the rolls.

Is Lawrence county case 2010CF222 what you’re looking for regarding Mark Boren? It involves pot plants, FOID cards and other charges.
When this happened, I remember the Daily Record reporting another person’s name in the bust but I can’t find that info.
