Bridgeport Council fires police officer
At a special meeting last week the Bridgeport city council voted to terminate city police officer Dave Dooley on a 4-1 vote. Council members Sandra Kay Mossberger, George Zellars, Darlene Arnold, and Ldora Laughlin voted against Dooley. Alderman Pam Hager was absent. Ed Standley voted against the firing.
Dooley was suspended last week for an indefinite period during an investigation stemming from Dooley’s arrest on a charge of unlawful sale of a firearm. Court documents say he knowingly transferred a .22 caliber pistol to someone who did not display a firearm owner’s identification card.
