BRIDGEPORT -- Two young men were shot, one fatally, Thursday afternoon on the city's East Side, police said.
Bridgeport Police Det. Keith Bryant, a department spokesman, said police believe both victims were teenagers, though neither were identified by name.
One of the victims was dead on the sidewalk before police arrived at the scene. The other was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with a serious gunshot would, Bryant said.
The homicide is the city's 15th this year and fourth in less than two weeks. Two of the city's homicide victims so far this year have been teenagers -- 14-year-old Justin Thompson, who was shot to death in January, and 15-year-old Keijahnae "Nu Nu" Robinson, was killed July 21.
Thursday's shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Hallett and Arctic streets, police said.
Police were also looking for shell casings on Ogden Street.
Emergency dispatches indicated police were looking for a gray Toyota minivan in connection with the incident.
A van matching the description of the one wanted in connection with the shooting was found at about 3:45 p.m. at the Greene Homes public housing project. Police traced the license plates to a van that was reported stolen in Darien.
The homicide comes amid growing concern about violence in the city.
Robinson was shot to death on the porch of a Brooks Street home around 2 a.m. July 21. Two hours earlier, the owner of a Wood Avenue Chinese restaurant, Min Le Zhao, was killed during an apparent robbery attempt. Two days later, 35-year-old Mayro Joey Santiago was shot to death outside an East Main Street barbor shop.
A Waterbury man, 33-year-old Neftali Beniquez Velez, was arrested July 25 and charged with murder in connection with Santiago's death.
None of the victims in Thursday's shooting were immediately identified by police.
No other information was immediately available Thursday afternoon.

No quick answer here, because BPT is filled with no-good punks. Only when society stops the generational welfare/single parent/way too young/no family structure cycle will this end. And try suggesting that to an elected democrat in Bridgeport.

Most shootings and killings are due to the gang drug war in large cities.

Violence is running around like a disease....(dis-ease) and when you have thousands of kids with it and no resources or no understanding how to ease the pain and anxiety it will continue to spread...that doesn't mean the dis ease comes from the household it could be a number of reason why but if there was more outlets for these kids to cope with the core pain, more likely half of them would have a chance...no one wants to walk around with an invisible bag on their shoulders and it gets heavier by the day so they're going to get rid of it somewhere, somehow!!!Sometimes your parents are the most comfortable person to talk too...I came from a close bonded family and well "RAISED" but bring up a touchy subject that your parents didn't want us to be expose to,they would try to hide the truth or be asked to leave the adult convo out our ears!!!It's reality and it comes from any home, family, and race!!!!food for thought!!!!

It is black culture to promote & execute terrorism and violence. Look at the decline of any major city - this is the reason why. Look at the "no snitching" code that follows the rapes and murders. Until Liberal scumb@gs are held accountable for denying this and coddling domestic terrorists, things will never get better.

Horse hockey. It starts in the family - PARENTS have an OBLIGATION to TEACH their CHILDREN about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Period. And when you have PARENTS that are involved in the 'gangsta' life, where does that leave the kids? It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the PARENTS to actually BE PARENTS and TEACH their CHILDREN how to behave!! They're NOT doing it, so society tries to implement ways to keep these kids under control, but society fails because these kids haven't been taught personal responsibility OR self-respect. When you don't respect YOURSELF, you don't respect ANYTHING ELSE. Therein lies the problem. And most of these parents were having kids when they were still kids themselves! And if THEY never learned how to be responsible, how are they supposed to teach their kids??

Thanks Lynne... once again you have saved me the trouble of responding.

Awake may simply be surrounded by liberalism, so it's not so easy to see the way in that situation.
