To the East End resident who says that as many as 50 youths congregate on her porch every night... call the police and have them tell these kids to get off your porch. They are trespassing, if they do not live there!
And to the East End Youth that posted that message about not having anywhere to go, stating there's no community center on the East End - get off that woman's porch... it's not a pubic facility - it's a private home. Go check out your neighborhood. There are two places for youths to hang out on the East End - the Raphola Taylor Center and the Charles Smith Center. If the gym floor needs cleaning, get a couple of your friends, a broom and a mop and clean it. Yea, yea I know... both centers close at a certain time and perhaps you're not allowed to gamble and cuss at the community centers. Well, that's a signal for you to go home and do something constructive like READ. Commit to reading a least one novel over your summer vacation. If you have a younger sibling at home, read aloud to them. Tonight you need to be at home by 9:00 to watch CNN - Black in America. You just might learn something.'Aint nothing wrong with that.

First of all, you know when you take certain jobs, you are not expecting to become rich. I am ashamed that so-called Bridgeport police officers had the nerve to post that they are not doing their job because of the pay. Why the heck did you become a police officer? Same thing for teachers. You know that you are not going to get the greatest salary. You take a municipal job such as a police officer, firefighter, teacher etc. because of the love of the job, not for the money. Our troops are working in terrible conditions overseas, and yet they are still doing their job! I am glad they do not get the nasty attitude like some of these police officers and stop doing the job that they signed up for. Police chief Norwood has a police board to answer to. He can only make suggestions and/or recommendations. It's up to the mayor and the police board to support the chief. Just like a superintendent of schools. They have to answer to their Board of Education. By the way, my hubby is a former Philadelphia, PA. police officer, where they have over 300 homicides a year. He is disgusted with the comments that these so-called Bridgeport police officers posted and they only have a dozen or a little more homicides...you do not know what it is to be in a "high crime" city. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Hats off to the Bridgeport Police officers doing their job! I love Bridgeport!!!

Stop it Now - Being a police officer is by choice... you are not drafted into the force. If your morale is so low and you don't give a crap anymore - quit the police force. Join the corporate world. You will get more and more work responsibility every year and only a cost of living raise or no raise at all while they increase your health insurance contribution. I said it before and I will say it again - IF YOU DO NOT LIKE YOUR JOB... IF IT'S TOO MUCH FOR YOUR TO HANDLE - QUIT! Don't jeopardize the safety of the people.

almost every cop on the force loves , eat, breaths and sleeps thier jobs, the problem is when we are treated so poorly by our employer its very discouraging to want to do a good job when you get crapped on on a daily basis....nobody becomes a cop to make money, cuz believe its not there unless you willing to work an 80 hr work week...all any cop in bpt wants is to be treated fairly like surrounding police dept's and not being punished because our chief is a cry baby and cant have his way, and our ignorant mayor who hides all day and does not publicly stand up for the dept. or its officers. 6868

I love being a cop, I love hunting dangerous predatory people. Nothing will ever stop that. I have saved enough people's lives in my time to just walk away and be satisfied that I did my duty. I put my life on the line all the time and repeatedly come out on top. Not for the city of Bridgeport admin or the mayor but for self pride, humanity and my brother and sister officers.( You all know who you are..) Don't insult me with a bad offer in the contract its not all about money but lets face it a job is supposed to compensate you for your service. In Bridgeport thats not the case, the officers are not being justly compensated for the hazardous environment they operate in. Dont insult me by saying there are bad apples that the chief needs to fire. The only funny business around here is the fact that working cops are consistantly being fucked by the chief and internal affairs and that the race card is being played on promotional tests and assignment. REVERSE DISCRIMINATION.. I see a lot of toys around here lately and the working cop still has no resources to utilize to do their job.. Hey Meekins stay in Milford where you live, let the East End go its own way, they dont need you and your not a resident there anymore just stay home you racist. I could go on and on but ya know its just not my style to be writing long reports.......

LOL...Ted Meekins is a former Bridgeport cop...he knows about policing. Many people work jobs with strenuous demands, hazardous conditions, life-threatening situations etc. When you take the attitude that you are not going to do your job, then your behind needs to resign. You can do bad elsewhere! I am sure you would want your child/childrens teacher taking that same attitude and not giving your child a fair and equal education. Especially teachers in Bridgeport. They work under some tough conditions and most of them get it done. Do your job or go elsewhere!!

Why was it when Fabrizi was mayor and Chapman was Chief crime was down 19.5 %? I`ll tell you why ,because the police got raises, the patrolmen were the back bone of the police Dept.the supervisors were good to work for and everyone was happy. Now no raises, economy sucks, juveniles are out of control like thier parents and no one gives a sh..! Wake up Finch, get your head out of State Government and into the City were you belong, you already lied to the tax payers, you raised thier taxes, and cut city jobs, and now you think there there is hanky panky going on , stop it with the excuses, its the citizens that are suffering and the civil servants....Thank god I don`t work and Live there no more,,,,,,,,,

One Term Mayors

Remember, Fabrizi hired Norwood, not Finch. Finch inherited Norwood and a whole lot of dead pork from Fabrizi administration. Fabrizi left the city in a financial mess, and Finch inherited that mess too. The economic downturn has mad everything that was already bad - a lot worse. Finch lied to city residents to get into office and now that he's in... he is in way, way over his head... and he knows it. Finch-Fabrizi... they both suck but in their own way.

I'm a Bridgeport Police office making $75,000 a year, plus making over $50,000 in overtime, and have the best benefits around... did I mention my job's union protected so I can do no work and never get fired. Wah... Wah... everyone is so mean to me! What Bridgeport police officer makes $75,000 yearly? A patrolman makes $55,000 which is the lowest not only in Fairfield County but also out of the State's 10 largest town's and cities. A lieutenant doesn't even $75,000 in Bridgeport. As for the best benefits around you must be kidding me. I know people with HUSKY and their insurance is better than BPD's. As for making a lot in OT that one can do but the city is reimbursed for every construction job you see an officer working at and also the city makes an additional $10 hour for a cop being out there. If you are going to talk trash at least have your facts straight you MOPE.

Maybe if the Mayor and Chief sat down and talked with the union instead of walking all over the contract things might be different. Until that happens everyone suffers. Wake up Mayor and Chief we need leaders not children. Start leading and bring us forward not backwards like you are doing.

Your union is responsible for the no raises. How/ When you all got the right to move out of town you lost any wedge you had with the politicians. No matter what they do visa a vie raises you cant vote against them thus you cant hurt them. There was a time police and firefighters could control a primary and in one case a general election with their numbers.During the election of Republican Nick Panuzio the PD & FD and thir families brought out over 3,600 votes and Panuzio was elected/thus the 20 year pension and escalator clause.Living out of town has cost you a lot

Ed McMahon wrote: OK...lets get this straight. Ya see all these negative comments about the police? They are pretty much stereotypes. 99%(more like 69%) of the officers are on the up and up. By making these comments, spitting on the sidewalk when an officer walks by, giving the "psssss" to an officer, it all adds up to the officer not really giving a crap. Funny business within the Department huh? I don't think so. How about a contract offer that involves a raise...not talking about just a cost of living raise...but just A raise? Doing one hell of a job for morale fellas! I've been a Bridgeport resident for over 25 years. The fact is many officers I seen have earn this negative view of them. Why they don't care about citizens has nothing to do with their raise. If you don't like your job then leave it find something else. Do any officers work 2 jobs? Maybe, now they will need to, to keep up with everything going up. Not everyone is cut to be an officer. Anyone can wear the gear as you may seen where more than once someone is inpersonating an officer of the law. hmmm
