Bridgeport releasing list of layoffs

The nepotism is amazing. A few names are included in this article and include the husband of the city's health director, the wives of two Associate City Attorneys.

The list should be very enlightening as to the continued nepotism in city government. How do all these families get jobs with the city? I mean entire families are on the city payroll and then they clog up city boards too!

It's time for the city to take a real hard look and do the hard thing.

I would like to see a complete list of all city employees including the Mayor. To the right of the list should be their salary, city car (yes or no) and layoff status (yes or no) I think once we look at that it will be an eye opener.

On several occasions Mayor bill finch stated that lay-offs would not affect the Fire and Police Department. Finch is a liar. I am the service assitant selected for lay-off. On paper, I appear working as a Service Assitant (Janitor)working at the Bridgeport Police Department.
The fact is that I have never worked at the Police Department, let alone as a Janitor. For 10 years I have been working As Security at the Beardsley Zoo. I am the only Security person at the Zoo doing the job of the Required (3)in order to keep the $40 Million Zoo facility safe. A City Councilman elected along with Bill Finch making $40,000 a year working for the City, recently got a raise of $20,000. My take home pay is less than $22,000.
Last year the Zoo got $800,000 in bond money from Governor Jodi Rell for a Zoo project and Fabrizi was supposed to match the money. Fabrizi never delivered a dime, finch refuses to and now the zoo has to raise $800,000 or lose the Bond money. My Boss is Charlie Carroll the Director of parks and Fabrizi's Best Friend. What do you think of this?

First sincere condolences to the health and library workers who will soon be unemployed. I would guess that not all of them are from situations where there is a spouse making enough money so that the second income will not be sorely missed.

And MOST sincere condolences to the children who will now be without health services at school and library services in their own neighborhoods.

There is also a confusing aspect to this that was not mentioned in the article. I am referring to the VERY recent transfers of library personnel when it was known that branches would be closing and some of those transferred would soon be layed off.

This appears to be a very unjust way to treat loyal, hard-working employees. Why were they not allowed to finish out their last two months among library patrons that they had served?
