Okay, that was cute and all, but if you are not a HUGE fan of Hunter S. Thompson, the ORIGINAL gonzo journalist, I'm going to be mighty annoyed with you.

(not that you care or anything. I just don't like seeing someone cop someone else's title, even if they are dead.)

@LynneB Not only am I a huge Hunter S. Thompson fan, I'm a Charles Bukowski fan also. That should entitle me to a little bit of credibility. Not that I care or anything.:-D

Touche', then!! Thanks for your reply, I wasn't really expecting one. Glad you like Hunter. I saw him give a talk a while back in New Haven at Woolsey Hall. He autographed some girl's sneaker while he was at it!(Not mine!) But he gave a good talk, and I have several of his books. I'm not as big a fan of Bukowski, but maybe I need to read something of his again. I'll keep you posted.

My father was a close friend of Hunter Thompson in college. They met up once in a while into the '70's until it got a little too wild for my dad- they were riding around L.A. in Hunters convertible and got pulled over- Thompson was full of pills- and Thompson was arrested. My dad drove the car home and although he remained friends (really just exchanging christmas cards) he decided he didn't want to screw up his career (law).

Well, Thompson hung around Columbia, and began attending some classes (without being accepted by the college!)

He was somehow thinking he could just blend in and they wouldn't notice.

He used to sleep in my dads house occasionally, in the bathtub, for 25 cents a night (seriously)
My dad lived in some crappy place with several other guys while he was attending Columbia.

They once all got likkerd up and pushed a car off a pier into the hudson river...... Hunter was there
