We need to eliminate 3rd party arbitration and make the unions accountable to the voting public and the overall public good. These arbitrators are making rulings for unions all the time that result in towns paying more when they are already strapped...how about merit vs seniority? Wat a cocept - actually deserving something...

I was at City Hall on Monday to show support for the NET Team. I saw this group of officers and spoke with them all, they are a true team. To change that now by adding these cops who have been on the job for 20-25 years would be insane. The team would not be working like the well oilde team they are now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This is the problem. Just because you've been working for years doesn't mean you deserve anything. Maybe the reason why you still are employed is because you have a union and they can't fire you. Older folks always get mad when younger people move up...thats the bottom line.

Leave the N.E.T. Team alone. You don't want slugs with seniority in there doing nothing. A cop long in the tooth is not going to be physically able to run long let alone have the desire to.

You should have people there who want to be there not there cause thay have enough time to be there.

A cop with time on is looking to wind down and not be pro-active. Let the Retired On Duty stay where they are.

It's high time that qualified people be put in a position and not people with seniority.

Not only is the Union against the NET team, but they recently went to court with regards to the detective test and said prior to the decision made by the judge, "We think the 50/50 list is the way to go!" Then they said "let's let the judge decide." After the judge decided on the first list "50/50" they then put an appeal against the list and are preventing 10 officers from being promoted to the rank of Detective. Wait! I thought the Union was there to help get the members promoted not go against their own members. Is the Union really thinking of the safety of the public??? what about the case load building up in the DB?? It is coming to be known that the union allows things to take place then they scratch thier heads and say"Well, uh! I guess we should get involved now." They always get involved way to late (FAILURE TO ACT! FAILURE TO PROTECT! FAILURE TO REPRESENT!) not to mention bad advice from the ATT.

The Union represents the collective bargaining agreement which covers all the members not just 10.

Maybe the Bridgeport Police union should disolve and join the Teamsters. The Teamsters have a lot more bargaining power and experience.

1159 is just too weak.
