Bridgeport Deputy Chief Honis on Jim's Auto

Deputy Chief Honis is the guy who keeps saving Jim's Auto. He was the Deputy Chief who got the contract rewarded back to Jim's Auto in 2005, and I know exactly how that went down. Very dirty, evil, sick stuff from a representative at the Bridgeport Police Department, what a shot in the eye to the good cops at that department. There was a much more truthful, accurate depiction of Mr. Honis in the Sunday paper, complete with a picture of his fat, worthless, ugly, evil mug.

Bridgeport City Hall needs to take a closer look at the system used to tow and store abandoned cars.

The recent tale of a Bridgeport man whose 10-year-old car was deemed abandoned, and subsequently towed and crushed is only the latest disconcerting episode attributed to the firm that handles this work for the city.

Sam Wellington had his car towed by Jim's Auto Repair, the company that has the contract to tow cars off city streets. Inside of three days, Wellington's car was crushed for scrap, even though state law requires that a towed car be held for 15 days to give the owner the opportunity to reclaim it.

Jim's was sanctioned last month by the state Department of Motor Vehicles for having junked a car in 2008 without the owner's permission.

And another Bridgeport man is suing the company for allegedly having wrongfully destroyed his towed car in 2007.

We'll credit Jim's owner, James Aurilio, for apparently having admitted his mistake in this latest case and offering to make restitution to Wellington.

But remarks by Bridgeport Deputy Police Chief James Honis, who oversees execution of the contract, were not particularly encouraging.

Honis sounds like a bad cop to me. Off to jail he should go. Shame on him. It is bedtime for Tippy and her fish and myself, and to all, a good night.
