Police show off their new tools, tactics

The criminal element would have been wise to check out the Police Department's open house Wednesday - if for no other reason than to see what they're up against.

Most of that stuff was just a dog and pony show.

How many times will the ESU Team be used? How long does it take to get them all together? Let's see the first time they are called out.

The quads may look good on a recruiting poster but I wonder how they will be used.

Let's not forget about the Command Vehicle. Too much politics in the department too many agendas.

I THINK THAT THE "NET" NEIGHBORHOOD ENFORCEMENT TEAM IS DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB BATTLING CRIME IN BRIDGEPORT, ALONG WITH WORKING THE PUBLIC AND OTHER OUTSIDE AGENCIES TO REDUCE CRIME, COMBAT UNDERAGE DRINKING, DEALING WITH QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES, AND MAKING BRIDGEPORT A SAFER PLACE TO LIVE. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK NET TEAM.

Can't wait to see the new equipment in action against the slime ball criminal element within Bport. God knows this is long over due. They should get about 20 more of those vehicles to use on daily routine patrols. That'll send a nice message to the creeps that cause mayhem in
the ghetto areas of the city.

Don't hold back Bport police. Get overly aggressive with buying more of this tactical equipment and put it to good use. Get a good rep going with it and you may get your own TV show like Dallas SWAT. I don't think Dallas should even qualify for it's own show compared to the crime in Bport.

The NET team sounds like they are doing the same job that TRAP and SET did in there heyday.

As far as the toys that were displayed yesterday, how does an ATV help combat crime? Sounds like a terrible way to misuse money. SWAT team looked impressive but how often are they utilized? The mobile command center looks like it cost a lot of money and that thing is never used. I say sell all these useless toys and get more Police on the streets.

It IS a tremendous waste of money, like those segway things. They look neat and are probably fun to ride, but they are useless for police work.An armored van?How often will that be used, uhhhh, never? They would have been better off buying a retired Brinks truck and used that. But then this is Bpt and we all know the idiots that run this town

To the taxpayers of Bridgeport, let me tell you one thing. The net team (neighborhood enforcement team) is a valuble asset to Bridgeport, the numbers of aressts in the last year, the public relations they have with the public is more than words can ever put it. Be proud to have this team in Bridgeport and thank god that chief Norwood esablished it.

the only difference between the SET and NET teams is that NET inflates their numbers, and have special BBQ's at the chief's home. SET did the same work with out all the toys and special treatment. Stop running around with their fake numbers read the reports and really see what is fact or fiction

What he meant to say it that they can be reached by "department issued cell phone" 24/7.
