jail guards?? find a suffolk county civil service app for jail guard, and as for deputy sheriffs performing police functions? just what might those be?, answering 911....no, performing the duties of any unit that the county pd or towns dont already perform?....no, costing tax payers to perfom a duplicate service that they already pay enough for....YES. and to make this officers death a pundett for dagnellos, or your feelings on the monetary compensation for the duties performed by Correction Officers in this county is more than deplorable, its disgusting...the only difference being dagnello is a union boss with a basis for his grievance where as you are nothing but an ignorant person with a keyboard.. agreed wrong time and place to say it, but irregardless one should think before they open their mouths and one should have an idea of what they are speaking of before they spout off incorrect information
Even though irregardless isnt a word, It should be! You tell them Rambo!

he Answer to your Question.... No Andrew WAS NOT Drinking and neither were any of the other bouncers. A Man is dead and its a sad situation for his family and friends. He was a very nice and caring man. You should ask the inmates at Riverhead and I know they will say the same! Out of respect for him, his family and his friends STOP!!!!!

They are freaking jail guards for God's sake. How much money does someone who walks around a cell block deserve? At least the deputy sheriff's perform police functions (read: have an actual purpose).

This entire article and blog is a joke and nothing more then a propaganda press release probably written by the Co's union. Their were 243 post written yet only 198 remain, lol. That's a lot of editing.
The kid who killed the Co in self defence was a good kid. Attended St Joseph's College and was a member of the golf team. Take a look at his mug shot on Newsday, he was neither big or tuff looking.
Hope everything works out for this kid he had a decent future ahead of him. He wasn't some goon roughing up criminals during the week and then looking to rough up civilians during his off hours.
That Punk not only has to be kept away from C/O's but also the Inmates who this Officer helped. The same Inmates who would now gladly kill him if He were housed in Suffolk. Everything will NOT work out for the Kid you can bet that !

Oh yeah, how so? Something struck a nerve, huh? The guy played with fire and got burned. He tried to play mr. tough bouncer and get his asskicked...end of story.

You are wrong !
He loved people, even the Inmates He helped get jobs after jail. Andy couldn't hate anyone and unfortunately it was his downfall. You didn't know Him, He was never a Tough Guy only a nice guy

poor, poor tough guy, hate to see anyone die being a tough guy,but oh well.i guess the tough guy forgot bars werent seperating him from the violence the cos provoke everyday.if this happened in riverhead and the victim was an inmate it would be covered up the difference is reister would still be alive because his big mouth would have been backed up by 8 of his correction buddies and odone would have been made the problem whos dead.bottom line big tough correction boys,if your not in a group or seperated by bars, keep your punk mouths shut

For the inmates in Riverhead to be sticking up for Andrew Reister, that says alot about his character. I guess that just goes to show all the CO haters on here that they really don't know what they're talking about. Unless you have been in trouble with the law, you wouldn't know what CO's are like in jail. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that doesn't mean everyone's opinion is right. I think the CO haters need to walk a night in their shoes. If we didn't have them, all the criminals would be your neighbors.

The reason there are so many deleted is because when some people are challenged they become downright disgusting and when reported for abusive language their comments are deleted. I have had to report someone more than once for extreme abuse.

This is what happens when the pigs perpetrate violence against civilians, whether innocent or suspects. Think back to the unprovoked attack a pig made on a cyclist.

Payback's a b_tch, especially karmic payback. If the pigs stopped acting like pigs and acted like human beings, this might not have happened.

But to say this is Karma ?? The Guy worked in a Jail and the Inmate's want to help His Family , apparently he treated Staff and Prisoners with respect. Doesn't that tell You anything moron. But its all good because if the C/O's don't get to this 'Scum', the Inmates will---Justice Btch !!
