It's very hard to believe, as someone who has been to the Publick House on a Wednesday night, that this would have been able to happen. Reister and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

The dopey union pres is anasshole, injecting his opinion into the tragic circumstances! The guy who choked the co officer needs to do hard time and I know just where to put him, He can meet the friends of C.O. Reister! perhaps he could fall off the second tier of the jail? Maybe he could get a broken neck from the fall?

I am ASHAMED of Dagnello! I am an ardent supporter of union workers and this guy is disgusting. There is a time and a place for politicking and it certainly is nowhere near the time and place we are at right now. CO Reister may be at heavens gate and all this guy has to say is some BS about a contract?!?

CO's --- PLEASE FIRE THIS GUY! What would CO Reister want him to say?

Whatever the union president said is irrevelant. After reading this story in Newsday, I hope and pray that Mr. Reister gets better and that the sick piece of scum who practicallychoked him to death, Oddone is placed away in prison for life. Ideally, the piece of scum would be given the death sentence.

How is that people start by "telling" this **** to stop and then "trying" to pry him off?! What happened to everyone just jumping in and beating this guy off him? Haven't they learned anything from 9/11?
Too many limp wrists. Hope the officer makes a full recovery & they up the charges to attempted murder.

Vito Dagnello.....your statement is out of line. It also proves that one doesn't need an education to head up your Union. Why don't your commit to taking care of his family after his impending death?

I have a feeling that prison isn't going to be such a fun time for this guy.

While I feel for him as a person but to use this incident as a bargaining chip is disgusting.

They are freaking jail guards for God's sake. How much money does someone who walks around a cell block deserve? At least the deputy sheriff's perform police functions (read: have an actual purpose).

There was nothing wrong with what Vito Dagnello said. Has Levy gone 5 years with no raise. Sometimes guilt hurts, Steve! My prayers go out to Andrew Reister and his family.

You must be kidding. As if a raise in the recent past would have raised this guy out of the desire to work a second job as do so many cops and fireman all over the US. Dagnello was flat out wrong and insensitive.

My comment was censored above - I think Odone should be given the maximum penalty, which is state execution.

Being a bouncer is a very dangerous job. No one takes the job and exopects to do paper work..They take the job to prevent or stop unruly behavior. many bouncers go waaay to far with their authority. many people do die each year working as a bouncer or by bouncers. In this case the patron defended himself, I believe. Hopefully the fella makes a full recovery. All bouncers should rethink their is never a safe job.

As someone from SH village who knows Andy, I could care less how the politicos use this.
What upsets me the most is that this happened in the main room of the bar in front of hundreds of people and they did nothing. All it takes is a few people who give a shit to break up a fight or punch and kick the hell out of the guy. All I have heard was that it happened so fast or I didnt know what was going on. A man was in a choke hold for a very long time. What the hell did they think was going on? I guess there is nothing stupider than 100 drunk twentysomethings since I was one once also.
Today, his family have to decide whether to pull the plug since he is clinically brain dead. That fucker is going to get 2nd degree murder. He is a 25 y/o little white golfer from Farmingdale. I hope he gets the full 25 to life and becomes someones super bitch.
Now, the family is going to have to decide today whether to take him off life support.
