Full story: Newsday

On the week well-heeled vacationers from Manhattan to Munich swarm the pricey Hamptons rental market to lock in summer homes, real estate broker Richard Finder found his appointment schedule distressingly open.

Lask week Newsday ran headline saying that the rental housing market in the Hamptons was booming and not effected by the economy. Is it booming or a bust? Your confusing me.

When last weeks story hit the streets, the editors must have gotten a phone call from Democratic officials and been chastised for saying something good about the economy. That's why this no story that retracts last weeks.

Once again I say boo hoo. The hamptons are obscenely overpriced. The only ones I feel bad for are places like the bagel stores and other small businesses. I don't feel sorry for the greedy home owners that charge $50,000 for a one month rental.
C'mon people say it with me: re-cess-ion. Poor unemployed wall streeters are right about now remembering when. Now they have to enjoy summer like the rest of us regular working slobs.

Gee, with the state of the economy, ya think? What a dumb story. People don't know if they'll even have a job in the summer & the rich are worried about the ridiculous rental rates they charge not being met. Just an asinine story

I was wondering the same thing. A couple of weeks ago the rag reported Hampton rentals were booming - now they are bust. Having said that, I have no sympathy for these rich rubbers whatsoever. Does the rag really believe that the common people give a rats turd about the rentals of the rich?

I guess all the wealthy people will have to go on welfare, or sell their rentals at a reasonable price. What a shame, no profits this year, boo hoo.
