Does anyone have any news on Cameron "Jabo" Keeney of 334 Roberts in Bridge City? He was a good friend of my late husband and I have been worried about him. His daughter Alicia and grandsons lived with him.

Louis and Sharon are my friend too. They lost their home and are currently staying at her Uncle Bill Ed and Aunt Glynn's. They will be moving to a travel trailor at Butch and Diane English's home in Orangefield. I will tell Sharon you are looking for them.

My parents moved to BC in 1943..I was raised on Highway 87..now Texas Ave..
I have a few pictures of that era..it is
flat land..no trees,few houses..
I remember being told..when or if a
hurricane hit just right...BC would be
flooded..I am 65..I have lived to see that happen. I am sadden..I know people can rebuild...the flavor of my hometown will change..as it should..
Jimmy Jones..if you read this...I will
see you/and my old friends..in a New BC
when our reunion takes place.

I talked to my mom today,(Sharon Warren (Delahanty), they are cleaning out on Lake St. She said that there are no temporary housing units for anyone available through FEMA, No Checks being Done Through FEMA, NOTHING like what was done for those in LA, when Katrina hit them. There are individuals going around in their own vehicles offering drinks and sandwiches to those working on their houses, RED Cross offering Gloves and Masks. Neighbors helping Neighbors (Like small town folks are always doing and are so kind to do). I am ABSOULUTELY HORRIFIED that ONCE AGAIN the FAMED GOVERNMENT FOCUSES ON ONE PLACE and is leaving OUR SMALL TOWN AREA that is so DEVISTATED out of the HELP IT NEEDS!!! Only 14 Homes were left UNTOUCHED in BC!!! The answer to the housing situation was "The trailers were TRASHED by the Katrina victims."...Well, not our problem...My brother's family was given $24 dollars to feed a family of 4 children in foodstamps??? WHAT??? your kidding me right? THIS IS DISASTER ASSISTANCE??? New Orleans People went out and bought all new clothing...Folks in BC need places to LIVE and to Eat and basic needs met for some time to come...WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? WHY is all the focus on Galveston and HOUSTON??? WHY is no one YELLING HERE? Bridge City was wiped out!!!

I could not agree more. My sister lost everything at her home in BC. I am shocked at the lack of interest from the national media and the federal gov.

I went to Bridge City yesterday, the 21st of September. It is so sad. The people are trying to cope. They need lots of help. They have lost everything. The flood waters came in and left muck in every home.

Everything is being thrown out. I saw a very old couple sitting in the driveway with all their posessions going to be picked up by the trash persons. They were lost.

They need volunteers, they need money and clothes. A lot of people did not have flood insurance.

FEMA does not do very much.

I completely agree. My parents, sister, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends all lost everything in Bridge City. I just recently moved to Little Cypress and am fine. But BC is my hometown and it is devastated and I can't believe the treatment they are getting from the government. It makes me sick!!!! At the townhall meeting in BC, the Fema guy told the town that he was "not in the Trailor business!!!!!"

My heart goes out to every person, and family member, touched by this catastrophic hurricane.
I felt cut off from family because news was only from Galveston and Houston.
Can someone explain why the Golden Triangle did not receive proper news coverage??

Debbie, I do not understand why the media did not show the Golden Triangle more. I live in New Orleans and I can say the people of Orange and Bridge City opened their hearts to our problem three years ago. I grew up in Orange and I have been trying to find out anything I can but the most information I get is a nightly phone call to my mother, father and siblings that live there. I do not understand why the nation is not outraged about the lack of government response. I really do not want to see one more political story on Palin, Obama or McCain, It is disgusting how the money from our taxes go to help people in foreign lands and yet there is no help for our own citizens. Is this really any different than the tsumani.

Now that Hurricane Ike has come and gone and left devastation everywhere I think it's great how everyone is coming together and trying to help out in anyway they can. Everyone should to try to help as much as possible even if it's just a little bit. Even a little bit can be a lot in someone else's eyes. Thanks to everyone that has helped me. God Bless!

I used to live down near the end of Henry Drive across from a trailer Park and a little bit past Edgerly sT. Does anyone know if that area was flooded. If so please email me at [email protected] and let me know. I would appreciate it. I think it was in the 200 block. We had a home there acros the street from trailer park with circular driveway to garage on left of house. Thanks so much. Ann Sonnier
