Why?????????? did these people not get the memo? You are ordered to leave and you stay. Then rescue workers have to risk their lives to save your ass. Next time get the hell out!
Where is your responsablity in all of this?

Dear BoBo, have a heart. In our case, we live in Florida and our daughter has serious mental issues but is not underage so we cannot legally supervise her. No one regrets more than we do that she stayed although we begged her not to. We feel both grateful and terrible for the rescue workers who are trying to find her. We hope and pray they will find her still alive. God bless them all. Your remarks have a time and place but this really isn't it.

My friend got stuck there helping to get the elderly out along with the special needs folks. Just think if you grandma or someone was there and needed help out, wouldn't you want help for her. There were more than expected and the routes were packed. In her helping others, she could only go back home and hunker down to wait it out. So think about that before you start throwing rocks!

Wishing you and your family luck locating your daughter. I also have a son who is living in SE Texas. Thankfully, the last word I had he is fine and his electricity has been restored. I personally understand why some of these people chose not to evacuate. On labor day weekend my son evacuated for Gustav to Memphis Tennessee-that adventure cost him hundreds of dollars plus three days wages because he missed work. We had to call nine hotels before we found one with vacancy. His area barely got a drop of rain from Gustav. A lot of these people who decided to ride out the storm this time may have had the same type of experience just a couple of weeks ago and were worn out and financially strapped because of Gustav. I agree that these people have made a huge mistake in deciding to ignore evacuation orders but they made a MISTAKE and now they need our help! It is not their fault that their homes are ruined and their lives are at stake. Maybe they had faith in God that everything would be okay. Regardless, they need help and we need to stop judging them and help them. They are victims of Ike.

Thanks you Mom from Hendersonville, N.C. for your very supportive and understanding message. We are still looking for our daughter. I have a correction to the address where she was last seen before the storm:

Gulf Coast Logistics, 5050 FM 1006, Bridge City (Orange) Zip 77630. Her name is Camilla Fitzgerald and she is with some other people there. We have had no word at all and have called every agency and asked about her to no avail. If anyone knows where the place is please advise if it is still there and send help to them.
Thank you to everyone trying to help us.

Through the kindness of a family I met through a blogger I now know that my daughter is not trapped in the warehouse where she was spending the storm. These very good people actually went there today to look for us and found the place empty. We still don't know where she is but we are relieved she isn't there and continue to be thankful for the good people of Bridge City and pray for them all.

Thank you tonight to everyone who helped in so many ways in our search to find daughter Camilla Fitzgerald. She called home tonight on a borrowed phone and she is alive and well. My prayers continue for those of you remaining unsure of your loved ones wherabouts. I know the wait is long and stressful but being with the people on these blogs has been invaluable information-wise and comforting in so many ways. God Bless.

This was as of last night:
AS PROMISED.. HERE IT IS...
There are several services set up for citizen of Port Arthur to assist with food, water and ice for as long as supplies last.
PODS - Gilham Circle 9:00-6:00 Ice and Water for as long as it lasts. Provided by Convoy for Hope.
Salvation Army - West Port Arthur Road (Port Acres) at the Market Basket.
Salvation Army - Washington Park at Joe Lewis and Thomas Blvd.
Salvation Army - Jefferson and Gulfway Drive.
Salvation Army - Port Arthur City Hall in Downtown Port Arthur.
Hwy 365 and Twin City - near HEB.
**********
The City of Beaumont is working on setting up PODS (Points of Distribution) for ice and water. At this time, assets and locations have not been determined. It could be tomorrow before they are established.
The City of Beaumont acquired several large generators that has boosted the abilities of our water and sewer systems. The systems operations have greatly improved since yesterday.
This is good news in relation to
re-establishing the infrastructure of the City. Unfortunately, the news is not as good for our friends in Mid and South County as well as Orange County. They continue to work very hard to re-establish services as they also work on Search and Rescue efforts.
Entergy is working extremely hard to restore electricity to our area. Very limited area's in Beaumont have been restored to assist with the functions at the Hospitals.
The LaBelle-Fannett Fire Department is the Command Center for Search and Rescue Units. It is NOT a site set for the public. There are no assets provided to the public at this site.
**********
ROAD CLOSURES:
September 15, 2008

Orange County:

FM 408 North of Bridge City is CLOSED due to high water.
All other state roads are open

Orange County Allows Temporary Return for Home Inspections
The Orange County Office of Emergency Management has issued the following advisory for all those who reside in a city or unincorporated area of Orange County. Nothing in the advisory should be deemed to modify or rescind the mandatory evacuation order in place.
As of Monday, September 15 at 9 a.m., all citizens of Orange County may return to the respective cities and unincorporated areas of Orange County for the sole purpose of evaluating damage to their property.
No person should assume that any services are available to those who return to inspect their property. To the extent that limited water and sewer may be available, citizens are advised to use the water for clean up only. Don't attempt to drink any water, other than bottled water, until further notice.
Citizens will be required to vacate the city and unincorporated areas of Orange County by 6 p.m. each day so that law enforcement may use all available resources to keep property secure. In no event will persons be allowed to roam any city or other area of Orange County. Anyone found in a city or unincorporated area of Orange County after 6 p.m. may be detained or required to leave the city or unincorporated area of Orange County.
Citizens are further advised that there will be no food, water, ice or fuel available. Those choosing to return pursuant to this advisory will be required to be self sufficient.
The curfew continues to be enforced from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m. This curfew will remain in effect until further notice.
**********
Mandatory Evacuation Order Remains
The City of Beaumont is still under a Mandatory Evacuation Order. The curfew order is also still in effect. The curfew hours are from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am. Businesses should close early enough to ensure that their employees and patrons are able to return home prior to the curfew. Law enforcement are strictly enforcing the curfew and anyone out during the curfew hours is subject to investigation and possible arrest.
Under the Emergency Powers signed by Mayor Becky Ames and adopted on September 11, 2008, the sell or distribution of beer, wine, liquor or any alcoholic beverages of any kind within the city limits of the City of Beaumont is prohibited until further notice.
Grocery stores, restaurants and any business selling or serving perishable food must be inspected by the city’s Public Health Department prior to opening.
They can contact public health at
