Searching for Husband's Birth Mother in New Bern

Gene Bowden is almost 61 years old and recently was told that he may be the son of unknown, unwed female giving birth to him at Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bern, NC. There is no birth certificate that exists for him. The story is that the mother he was raised by (Maggie Bowden aka Maggie Bell Anderson)" worked at the hospital and took Gene and raised him as her own with her husband Norman Bowden. The was not a legal adoption, there are no records at all. It was also told there was another little boy that may or may not have been his brother, fell from a tree when he was young and died. There is a name in Maggie's album for a obituary for Ernest T. Hollowell. Gene remembers around age 4 he used to play in New Bern at an auto garage owned by a Emmit Jenkins, he played with the owners daughter there (forgot her name). Can anyone please help us. Gene is about to retire, we need proof of who he is.

Do you need proof, as he should have a ss number and retirement is based on it...My mom was adopted and those records are sealed...but she got ss...with no problem....best of luck...maybe the records should be closed to the parents...but every child deserves to know who their relatives were....it is unfair...LISTEN UP AMERICA......I hear that the Church of Christ has records better than the government...might want to check there.
