Michael Enright once volunteered with a group that promotes interfaith tolerance and has supported a proposal for a mosque near ground zero -- an experience distinctly at odds with what authorities say happened inside a city taxi.

BTW, try this little 'experiment'... fill in any other descriptive word for 'Muslim' above... try 'French' or 'Irish' or 'American'. As far as cabbies go, so long as the cab doesn't stink, they don't overcharge, get me to where I want to go in a reasonably timely fashion (and AC is a plus) they get courtesy from me and a tip. These are the marks of a civil society and the lens through which the world views us.
If the accused is such an 'ecumenical', then he might 'have some 'splaining to do'.

Man's inhumanity to man is well documented for any one of a number of 'reasons'. You know, your old friend does have the 'Right of Return' to a place that does actually have a 'state religion'. America does not. The price of a pluralist and free society is tolerance.

Thank you! Word is coming out that the alleged attacker is associated with the developers of the mosque at Ground Zero. He's worked here in the US and abroad in Afghanistan for the muslims! There is no such thing as "the right of return". Like palestine, there is no such thing. This is a perpetuated myth much like the Jenin massacre. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance. We don't have to tolerate things that are dangerous to our freedoms and our culture just because it may make the people out to get us sad or angry. Tolerance is the virtue of a man without conviction.
