Brewster police crack down on day laborers crowding Main Street

Village police have been out on Main Street this week, asking day laborers to disperse along the busy thoroughfare to prevent what they say is overcrowding and other safety hazards.

I have actually written to a couple of the newspapers (via their journalists) and suggested that someone come and do a photo essay of Brewster from 8:30 in the morning to about 7:30 at night so show both the good and the bad that goes on. It's true, dayworkers take the train from towns who care about having them congregate on the street to Brewster. We should care too!

Growing up in Brewster was a great experience for me and my siblings but i would never in my life send my children down there without supervision. Also when we have family up to visit us i re route them around the town because of the way it is now... Call in the INS and we wont have this problem...

If any one remembers, down-town Brewster wasn't all that great before the day laborers arrived back in the mid nineties. Brewster will always be a place no one really wants to go to other than to hop on a train.
