Bangor Maine Sucks

Too many drug dealers, moochers, alcoholics, meth heads, liars, scam artists, and slum lords. I moved to the area to start school at Orono but I don't like this entire area. People are too two faced and back stabbing. Maine is certainly not like in the movies or tv as being a friendly place it just reminds me of a mini Boston with all it's problems except in Boston they don't pretend their poop don't stink like Mainers seem to pretend. And what is up with so many Bangor residents all carrying knives all the time? Disturbing people. Can't wait to move back to Virginia.

OMG! Thats exactly the Bangor I've seen since moving here from NH a year ago! Never seen so many drugs so accessible, not to mention so many nice people living in homeless shelters. <quoted text>
Even though it's hard for people to accept Maine is a horrible state when it comes to drugs. Statistically true that the USA has more people on Prescription Drugs than any other nation and has the highest rate of prescription drug abuse... Statistically speaking within the USA Maine has THE highest prescription drug abuse problem in the nation. So a statistical FACT is that in the entire world the state of Maine is the absolute worse place for prescription drug abuse. Now, I'm not talking about illegal drugs but illegal drug abuse is also rampant in Maine. Maine also has more babies born addicted to pain killers in the entire US.

Ever since we moved here I've noticed that Maine women are just gross and ugly. Just fat and disgusting. Yet these same women wear tight clothes as if they are thin. I mean seriously Maine women are just gross and sickening. And their attitudes suck too because they act like selfish fat pigs.

All I know is most services in Maine suck. Bangor only has FairPoint or Time Warner and both of them suck really bad in this area. Also most doctors or other services suck here too. Been to both St. Joes and EMMC for stuff and they suck too. The nurses in this area are rude as heck and people seem very ignorant. There are not many choices for services either so you are stuck with what you've got. Like I said both FairPoint and Time Warner suck in this area and there is no 3rd or 4th option like in other places. Same goes for doctors or other services. And nobody seems to want to work on anything to make stuff better yet they brag about how great their services are but they don't actually do anything.
People who have bad experiences here are usually presenting an attitude of demanding, arrogant superiority. They want to drive on the back roads, then complain if they get lost, or the dusty, bumpy roads get their rental cars dirty. They want to enjoy rural living, then complain that there is no 5-star restaurant next to the motel, or a bunch of nightclubs. As far medical help, if you decide to use one of the Emergency Rooms, then get it through your head: It's an ER, not your on-call doctor. When you get there with red eyes and stuffy nose from allergies, you may have to wait. People who come in with REAL emergencies (that's the "E" in ER), are going to be seen in front of you. The guy with chest pains, the girl bleeding from the car accident, and even the college kid who overdosed on drugs, are all going to be seen before you. Will the staff be rude? Maybe, when you start to demand that you should be given special treatment, especially the second or third time you nag them. Here's a hint to Canadian visitors: The normal tip for services is 15-20%. If your group has a meal and the bill comes to $100, and you leave a $3 tip, don't expect that the next time you eat there, the wait staff is going to notice your empty coffee cup, or be in any hurry to take your order or to get it to the kitchen right away. In general, the attitude you put out is the one reflected back to you. Mainers react to a-holes quickly, and without apology. But they will go out of the way to help someone who needs help. As long as they ask, and don't demand.
Bangor Hates Pedestrians

Bangor Maine hates pedestrians. The drivers will run cross walks, run red lights, and run stop signs even if they clearly see a pedestrian has the right of way. Also the sidewalks are terrible and they have walk lights that allow traffic to turn while pedestrians are also given a walk light. Both the city and drivers both hate pedestrians. And don't get me started on the horrible side walk conditions in winter and Im not just talking about side streets. Their main areas including down town main street areas are horrible. Bottom line is too that drivers suck in Bangor. They are not only selfish and rude but they simply do not know how to drive. Often looking in the opposite direction while turning, or not using their blinker or at least not using it until they are already turning at the last moment. Doing illegal U turns or running red lights so people miss their turn. Often they are so focused on running the light they don't see nor care about pedestrians trying to cross. While most modern cities focus more and more on pedestrians Bangor seems to be full of selfish drivers and city planning that doesn't care. The only place they try to fix any problems is near the Casio area trying to funnel people into throwing their money away.

If you think what you see in Bangor, Maine is bad, then go traveling around the country. Go through the Bronx in NY at night. You would see things that would make Bangor, Maine seem like heaven!
My opinion about Maine in general....is a beautiful state. Just because you have one or two enemies, doesn't mean everyone in that state is like that. When you all talk like this, makes me wonder why little kids are on the internet at all.
"Go through the Bronx in NY at night." Difference is honey potting asswipe, the Bronx NY NY aint "putting itself off as" Disneyland (Vactionland) brimming with friendly hardworking down to earth locals.

When you go to the Bronx you know what your in for. Maine is all FALSE advertising designed to get people to drop their guard so they can get totally exploited by wild unhinged inbred drugged out child molesting con-artist locals.

A friend of mine helped me move out of Bangor because that entire area is a bad influence. Over the decades I went from an upstanding young man, hard working, in school. To experimenting with drugs and alcohol and hanging out with bad people. This happened slowly over a long period of time. When I was younger I would never do drugs or hang out with scum and I know I mad small decisions that lead to bad bigger decisions. Im not trying to blame others entirely for my mistakes but when you are surrounded by thousands of people either trying to bring you down, use you, lie to you, or influence you it's hard to resist over time. Bangor Maine is a terrible influence on that entire state of Maine. We ended up moving out of state and I was in rehab and counseling and now working part time. Soon I'll be back at college and moving forward. But believe me when I was younger I used to say that everyone is 100% responsible for their actions but after living most my life in Bangor I believe that it's 50/50 and that when you are surrounded by two faced controlling people, too many others that drink, and ignorant mind sets it's easy to get sucked in. Im sick of the Casino party attitude, race track losers, boozers and uses, Im sick of local business scams and local colleges that only want to brain wash you. Bangor is a seriously bad influence and is dragging the entire state down. Im glad I got out but I feel sad for those that are good people but were turned into doing bad things with their lives because of the horrible soulless influence of Bangor Maine. I lost my dad due to a drunk driver running him over in Maine and my Mom is still struggling to make ends meet in that horrible state. We move to Maine in the 1990s from Arizona and regretted the move. Maine is not the nice place they pretend to be. Maine is evil. And Im tired of taking 100% of the blame and shame. Im only willing to admit that I made bad choices along a long path but those people in Bangor are unwilling to take responsibility for cleaning up their city. They just want to blame the victims they chew up and spit out, they blame the victims they use and lie to. Bangor Maine is a seriously BAD influence.

Dear Really, I think that Jeaninie was talking in a sarcastic perspective of the people that do these things and NOT actually about herself. You know sort of like in the 3rd person perspective but as someone pretending to be the people she is writing about (sarcasm). So that doesn't mean she did any of these things. Either was a victim of or perpetrator of. Get it? It seems to me she was being Satirical in a sarcastic way. Also I think places like Bangor are a bad influence and that even good people fall into traps so she might of known some people that fell into such bad ways. A lot of younger folks fall into pressure from other people and in a city that most of it's occupants are scum bags it's easy to fall into that lifestyle if you don't know any better. Anyway I think her sarcasm went over your tiny little head because you are one of those small minded uneducated brainless Mainer types.

You nailed that one. Thats what a predator says to the victim. "take responsibility". The majority of the state is comprised of white trash that are extremely skilled con-artists that prefer to lay honeypot traps for unsuspecting transplants. And when you catch on they gaslight you into oblivion. Usually takes years to figure out what the hell happened. Maine is the most corrupt state in the Union. And the culture of the locals is to support this shit. Usually they sandbag, stonewall, or spiderman/bombard a thread like this to bury the complaints. Its harder to con people in the future if they have their guard up. I'm surprised this thread has ran so long.
Cops are instigators

Canton, MA

When I used to live in Bangor Maine the cops had to come to our apartment when the neighbors call the police because my roommate and I had an argument. I didn't mind the police coming to ask us to quiet down but I did mind their rotten attitude problem. I believe they were overly aggressive verbally. Then to top it all off 1 of the officers slammed our apartment door on the way out. This is classic INSTIGATION on the part of the police. They pretend they want you to calm down but throw fuel on the fire. He was probably expecting me to open the door and confront him about it but I did not. Bangor PD seemed to be the worst when it comes to being instigators. They usually feed off peoples misery so they have an excuse to assault someone legally. The cops will be obnoxious and insulting while at the same time asking you to calm down or what ever. But in reality they love to throw fuel on the fire. Again I didn't mind them coming to tell us to quiet down because my roommate and I were being loud it's just the cops seemed to purposely try to provoke a response.
