The Brentwood police completely screwed this up. First they blocked off all traffic and sent it down Concord, but had absolutely no traffic cops there to alleviate the massive buildup coming from the interstate. Absolutely no detours setup. Traffic was going in all different directions. Franklin/Concord also had no officers present. Wilson Pike/Concord was also missing an officer. Brentwood police had absolutely no plans whatsoever to deal with a shutdown on the interstate. Then they open I-65 traffic past Concord only to block it off completely again at Moores Lane. And again had absolutely no traffic cops at any intersection on Moores Lane. MAJOR SCREWUP!

Will how do you expect the PD to have officers working this wreck, other wrecks, patrol the area, and still have enough man power to direct traffic through a detour?

Sorry you had to go through this frustration, and I understand you are most likely fighting mad. Been there, done that, and ripped the t-shirt. When you cool off you might understand what I said more.

Bogus. Don't argue for the sake of arguing forum troll. It was screwed from top to bottom. No cops were to be seen. Barely a handful at the accident. The lazy jerks just didnt want to get wet.

Dont understand why they blocked concord road then released it and blocked it again at moores. There was no accident at moores but they blocked everything.

Seems to me that all this could have been avoided had the driver been paying attention.

Nope, not trying to argue, just trying to clarify.

Now if you do not agree with me that is fine, but you do not have to insult me. Now why don't just go down to the department and ask for a run sheet and roster under the Freedom of Information Act, and request to speak to a supervisor. Maybe before you call them lazy jerks who do not want to get wet you should educate yourself on the subject.

There was an accident at Moore's Lane. That is wherethe problem was. I am no fan of police but they have no way to divert that volume of interstate traffic through local roads.

Just breathe and be thankful you are not the person that was killed in the accident. Traffic frustration is a lot better than what that family will endure.

Good question, and maybe PD could answer that for you if you live close to the station. They will not be offended if you go down to ask, and they will not get mad if you gave input. They had a reason at that time, and you are allowed to ask. Now I am not saying it was a good reason, but if you are not satisfied with the reason they give you can discuss that as well.

Will-
You are mean. Just like you, I'm sure they had a hard time getting to, seeing and surveying the scene. I know plenty of the Brentwood officers and they are good men doing their job.
I saw 2 Brentwood cops on my way to work which is less than 2 miles from my home (which by the way took me 1 hr and 10 mins to get to), but I don't blame the BW PD, b/c they too were in GRIDLOCK with me on Cloverland drive.
BE nice!

All the cities in this area need to be better prepared for more traffic and increased accidents such as this. This is just another case of caught off-guard and not able to cope with a bad wreck and tying areas up unnecessarily. Much like terrorist attacks, we're not very prepared for events such as these..

But which driver?

I do agree however, and that is the part drivers do not understand is how important driver safety is. We get all upset about crime, buying alarms, hand guns, and demanding more patrols, but you are more likely to be killed or seriously wounded in a traffic accident.

I was almost in a wreck twice last Tuesday by the same car. Both of us was getting off the interstate, and instead of waiting to the merge point the driver behind me decided she was going to whip around me, while on her cell phone on a rainy day. Well she then crosses traffic to get to the left lane almost hitting the car in that lane, and then moves into my lane to make an immediate right turn. never using a signal, and never checking her clearance. All of this happened in 30 secs

Waaah - I had to wait in traffic. Meanwhile, you asses, someone isn't going to see a family member tonight, since they were crushed under 10 tons of metal.

Oh no Im mean. Boo Hoo!

10 miles from work. Took me over 3 hours.

Only 5 cops on the scene which was clearly visible from the bridge. I saw 4 PD cars just driving around. A guy a few spots in front of me got so pissed after spending an hour in less than 1 miles of road on concord that he floored it and bashed into the back of the car in front of him.

There were no cops anywhere at the shutoff point at concord. No cops at any intersection. It was ridiculous.

And lady I went down Cloverland and there was no gridlock. Cloverland was no worse then any other week day morning. Blow smoke up someone elses rearend.

Thanks for posting Gatorman. I agree with the breath and be thankful part. I was in one of these gridlocks before, and very frustrated. I was cussing the idiots who caused this problem, banging my steering wheel, the whole works. I got to work to find out a 16 year old boy was killed.

And why the hell is someone from Murfreesboro telling me about traffic on 65 and Brentwood police.

would have taken all of 5 minutes to get to the scene and realize they needed to shut it down. Grab some detour signs and send one cop to each intersection along the route.

They still havent cleaned up everything. 6am - 1pm for a single accident is a clusterf*ck.

I have to agree that this was a major screw-up on the part of the PD. However, it was major because they did not understand the implications of what they were doing. Understanding that there may not have been other options than to shut down the interstate, but there are other agencies that can assist in these time. Middle TN transportation design leaves much to be desired. This place is growing and they are not equipped to handle these situations.

Will,
I drive from Bowling Green KY to Brentwood everyday to work. It took me another hour to go to Bell Road, Nolensville Road to Clovercroft, to Wilson and then to Moores Lane to get to work but I was more upset that someone died today than me being put out a little. In the blink of an eye a whole family's life has changed. That is what we need to concern ourselves with. We need to take a momemt and thank the Lord it was not our immediate family that was effected. "Put Out" by traffic? How insignificant is it really??

There should have been a car at the shut off point, or at least a barrier.

Now the 4 officers you saw, where was they going? Like I said, you are entitled to the run sheet, and you are free to question the department. You are also entitled to make suggestions on improvements, and learn why this incident was handled the way it was handled.

Will I do encourage you to go and talk to them. You might learn something, of you might have an idea that will help the next time around.
