Tennessee Man fired because he is Gay

Wonder why we need the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA)?

WSNM television in Nashville, Tennessee is reporting that David Hill, an openly gay man, was fired Tuesday from the former Brentwood Holiday Inn, simply because he was gay.

About his dismissal Hill said this…
They literally said to me because of my orientation and my alternative lifestyle, that I was not a fit for the hotel… The owner said, 'I don't give a damn. They can sue me. I will not have any of the gays in leadership roles in my hotel.' And that's a quote,"

Your name is Bobo? It ought to be BOZO.You think that gays are perverts? What about you straight men who have sex with underage girls? Most of you straights can't keep your pants zipped for five minutes, and being married doesn't stop you at all. Before you judge somebody else, take a look at yourself.

Why people get fired because they are gay or lesbian makes no sense to me. What does being gay or les have to do with how you work? unless you like screwed the hotel manager or somehting.

Did it feel good to call me a freak? Well I suppose I am a freak, I'm certainly not normal.
Actually, the only people who would kick me to the side of the road are people such as yourself,
who have a obsession with conformity. Psychologicaly that means something. I was born in
the wrong body, that makes me a Transexual. Correct this and I'm as normal as any other woman.
I raised my three kids and they never caused me any problems. One even graduated from Cornell U.
a few years ago. One of the reasons that we're having this discussion is because of the invention
of a Transexual named Lynn Conway, who really did invent the internet. Google Lynnconway.com and
go to Successful Transexual women. I know, I know, you don't care about that! You wouldn't hire no freaks. But some people would and do. You're in the minority and shrinking fast.

Terry Dear,
Please don't pay the poster named Bobo any attention. I call her Bozo because she is the one that is a brainless freak. She has a terrible problem with other posters turning on her. I wonder why.....people like that crave attention and figure they can get it on public forums showing their ignorance. It's obvious she has a deprivation of attention and brains.

Trust me, honey, she's not worth the keystrokes it takes to reply to her ignorant comments.

Hope you're doing well. We miss you over on the other forum. Well, take care, sweetie

Allen Sweetheart,
I wish you hadn't told Bozo to take a look at herself.....heaven only knows how many darn mirrors she'll have to break before she gets even a tiny glimpse of herself. I am a heterosexual white woman but am very openminded when it comes alternate lifestyles. I must agree with you about straight men and their inability to keep their flies zipped regardless of their marital status.

It's closeminded, bigoted, ignorant, idiotic, brainless posters like Bozo that must be a real shame to her family as well as gender.

As you all know sexual preference is not protected by the civil rights law of 1964. But there is one from 1866 that provides ways for private action and the Tn constitution is actually more liberal in its coverage of right to privacy than the US constitution.

I would think that it would be hard to prove the main elements of harrassment. No quid pro quo or hostile work environment (since it was a new owner).

But what BFOQ is effected by a gay personality? If customer contact is a problem, show me the complaint letters.

The gay person should call the Tn Human Rights Commision (not EEOC)and get their advice. They are easy to work with and competent. But wronged person must file within 180 days!!!

I thought that the post about working on job discrimination instead of marriage is a very, very good idea. Most Americans can relate to people's concerns about keeping jobs, but few in Tn (face it) are happy about same-sex marriage.

It's not bigotry to keep perverts out of your business. If you don't like the way he does business, then don't patronize the business.
Bozo,
Besides being brainless, you obviously don't know what the he-ll you're talking about nor do you know the real definition of bigot. Let me enlighten you. It is:
"a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance".

The fact that you chose to use the words perverts to describe a certain group of people makes you a bigot and prejudiced. So to keep someone you are prejudiced against out of a business is most definitely bigotry.

Now before you open your mouth and put both your effing feet in it....know what in the he-ll you're talking about.

You're an idiot if you think I'm going to share my business information here, so that you and your ilk can use it to retaliate with violence, etc. You'd die if you tried.
<quoted text>
When you use the word "clientele" and use the word "does" after it is a clear indication you don't know how to speak. The correct word would be "do".....due to the fact that "clientele" is more than one person. Furthermore, from your comments in past months on different forums, it leads me to believe that your "business" is one that dates back to biblical times. They did have prostitutes back then, you know. But they weren't prejudiced or bigots when it came to their clientele.

In American English, it is permissible to use a singular verb with the word "clientele" as that word is most often used to define a group and is thus a singular noun, as are the words "team" and "family".
British English uses plural verbs in conjunction with collective nouns. "The team were going to play, but had to forfeit."
Just a grammatical note, and an interesting difference between British and American English.

You are correct, but I hope the entire state of Tennessee is not boycotted. Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis are very progressive towns and I have to all of them and the people knew I was gay and did not bat an eyelash over it. They were respectful and nice. That is all I ask for.

My cousin is gay and I have known it since we were kids. We are both in our 50's. He works hard, so good hearted, kind and gentle to everyone. He is a God sent to his mom. He takes very good care of her. I have no problem with him at all.

Now grant it when he and Tom comes to visit I will not let them sleep together because of the kids in my home. But I have had male & female's that when not married I would not let them stay either. Could stay, but not to sleep together. This is just my beliefs, but I still love him very much.

It was wrong to just fire anyone beacause he is gay. If he done his job well, showed up on time, caused no trouble he should have not been fired.
