I remember the drive-in Mass. There were too many Catholics to fit into the church!

Everytime I hear someone walking on gravel I am right back there listening to everyone going up to communion. Nice memories of the once great town we grew up in.

Hey Randy,
I was friends with a girl who lived on Claywood. Ximena Novoa. Does that name ring a bell? She also had an older sister, Cecilia, who was a bit on the crazy side.

Did anyone else go to the "tomato lady" off of Second Ave? She had a brick house down a long dirt drive with a large garden in the back and sold veggies. She was Italian and didn't speak much English. Her house was before American Blvd. on the south side of Second Ave. It's funny the things you remember. It was during the 60's. My mother loved her tomatoes and I remember going there for years every summer.
Mari......my mom used to stop there all the time to get fresh tomatoes and other stuff....I remember them being the plum variety and we used to eat them right out of the bag with a sprinkle of salt on them. Every time I see a plum tomato I buy them and eat one with salt just for that memory...

I am from Brentwood to and a product of Brentwood High School. If this is a demonstration of the education that is being given today, I am saddened as I had received an excellent education and I can both write and spell.

Kara I'm not sure how long you've been removed from Brentwood but its been ghetto for a long time now. What you have read is not a sampling of the educational system but the thug culture that now permeates the town. It's been turned into a third world slum thanks to the open border policy of ALL of our politicians. Simply walking to a store for a soda and snacks is considered risky. On street executions are now common thanks to the scum that dwell there. The streets are filthy, homes with 5-6 cars in front, including the lawn, people driving recklessly on streets endangering all. Common civility has been replaced with the need to look over your shoulder for your own safety. Be glad you're not around to experience it.

Seems sort of sad...only lived there for 4 yrs, in the late 60's, but always feel some fondness for Brentwood. It was my parents 1st purchased home...they loved it, and still speak of it from time to time. Moved because my dad got tired of the LIE, even back then. Always wondered what it would be like to grow up there...lived on Dekalb Ave, which I think is considered North Brentwood? Was a great block...still can recall a few things about some neighbors and such, even though I was 6 when we moved away. Drove past the old house just last week, because my son had a soccer game in the area...still looks the same...even the same shingles and colors...the awning my dad put up in the backyard is still there...sad to hear that the town did not grow old, gracefully.
