To conclude , hopefully , you will have the chance to get educated about this health care bill and the many more things that Obama wants to do to this country that WILL change your life as well as other Americans . i'm with you to an extent, but your examples don't fit in any analog here. people aren't dying because they can't go camping/fishing/talk on a cell phone. we have a system of checks and balances. if it doesn't work will we be in any worse shape than we've already been? and once we realize it's results we can make adjustments. at some point you have to try something new. if we didn't try something new back in the 1770's where would we be? again after the civil war and eisenhower's new deal. this is infrastructure for a modern world. we need to do something, unfortunately the discussions are going nowhere because people are petty. no one is going to regulate your life completely and if you're well off enough, none of this should effect your present or future situation.(unless you believe the hype that this will snowball into your 401k getting raided, come on.)a lot of us need the options, not to be told we can't, which is what you said the government would do to us if we pass this. you don't want to be told what you can or can't have, so why are you doing it to the people who need it? i'm not saying either side are bad people, but there seems to be a lot of selfishness on the side of protest.

Honestly.....don't you see that Obamacare is another step towards government taking control of We-The-People!
Ask the Canadians and ask The Brits what they think of government controlled healthcare! Guess how national healthcare is paid for in Denmark?!?! Taxes!! 50% federal income tax...if you want to buy a car......215% tax...a $50K car will cost you $157K bucks. But hey.....they have healthcare...the only problem is.....seeing a doctor and receiving treatment is never immediate and is often delayed even with serious health conditions!
As far as the off color comment about the people who bravely take a stand to exercise their right to voice their opinions....shame on you retired01!!!

I am not grammar and spelling police, and I don't edit. But in a short comment, it is smart to edit because the nasties who have nothing of value to say on substance, will attack you. Of course we needed the bill, even with its being less helpful than it could have been. With Republicans and greedy insurance companies and various stupid people opposing it, it is almost a miracle that it does seem to be about to pass, even in as good a form as it is now. It has all sorts of pilot projects in it, to see what helps in reducing costs, and other worthy goals, such as better care, and it provides for constant reexamination and later revisions. That makes sense. It is the insurance companies that have insisted on the mandate for people to buy insurance - they have to protect their profits. Same reason as why they opposed public option to compete with them and show how greedy and wasteful they are.

good grief, it's not about hand out's to me. it's not getting told i don't deserve to be looked at by a doctor because an insurance company won't make any money from it. since when is everybody on the side of basically middle men in big business? it's not like there are people out there getting sick on purpose so they can use the system. there are flaws in everything, but something has to be done, can we agree on that?

don't make the mistake of thinking that you are disagreeing with persons who can be expected to be rational or decent, or civil in their discussions. It would be different if any decent traditional conservatives or real libertarians commented on topix, but there are only three or four of them. Denny Crane is one of them. Local boy is another. It is the vicious right-wing hateful ones who mostly claim to be conservatives and liberty-loving here. You can tell them by how they wrap themselves in the flag and the constitution and the claims about the Founding Fathers. They would have been tarring and feathering the Founding fathers as lefties if they had lived in that era.
