The Mayor of this city did not fix the water problem with the pond and now everything is DEAD. He does not care about LIVERMORE and he is now the biggest animal abuser we have in Livermore. They own the pond / park in springtown. Don't believe any of his misinformed story's. HE is KILLING THE DUCKS that Live there 24/7 all year. He has KILLED MOST OF THE GOOSE who lived at the pond for the last 40 years

Think about what you're accusing the mayor of...

"Don't believe any of his misinformed story's."

And why should we believe your misinformed sensationalism?

My goldfish tank water gets super dirty. It needs to be switched out a minimum of once a week. Last week I didn't do it and two of the fish died. I knew the water was getting dirty and should've done it. I just didn't have time to pull out the bucket and scoop out a few gallons of water.

You do realize that geese and some ducks are migratory right? So they wouldn't be there year round. Secondly there are plenty of wetlands around the area for them to go to.

I take it you do not live in Springtown area of Livermore. This pond is their home year round. They are very BIG and ALL white and when you pull up on the street they will come up to your car and eat. The ducks got smart last year and moved to the park on the other end of bluebell. I have been here for 15 years and I see them every day. The same ones. SO Wood Pecker you are as clueless as the Judy lady who is also responsible for the deaths.

update from the city, Its the same lame crap from last year.

I recently received your inquiry about the water level at the Springtown Golf Course pond; I am responding to your call on behalf of the Mayor.
The long-term lease operator of the Springtown Golf Course, Sycamore Landscaping, is solely responsible for the management of the ponds at the golf course. During the winter months, Sycamore Landscaping relies on retained winter storm water runoff to fill the pond. Then, once the necessary Federal and State permits are finalized, after April 15 each year, and until October 15, Sycamore Landscaping diverts raw water from the arroyo to irrigate the golf course and fill the duck pond.

With the dry late winter and early spring this year, there wasn’t any storm water retained to serve as a backup water supply, and raw water cannot be diverted for irrigation and to refill the duck pond until the necessary permits are secured. This year, there has been a delay in the processing of the required permits, and Sycamore Landscaping does not yet have the authority to install the diversion structure. Since these Federal and State permits are not issued by the City, the City cannot expedite the permits. These permits are expected to be finalized soon and the current plan is to begin refilling the pond in the next week.

I hope this information provides clarity, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
My response back at her Judy, someone is not telling the truth. You sent this same email out before saying the same thing. Now this time you killed the fish. Maybe if you and Dan did your job this would not happen. You guys make the rules so maybe the golf course should have that water ALL YEAR so this does not happen, and its like I said before. That pond should NOT be part of the golf course. The golf course does not have access to the pond and the dead grass around it. You people pulled a fast one on everyone when you added a city pond to a golf course. I am being told that one of you guys are on vacation and that is why the one persion who can sign the paper has not done so. JUST ADD WATER from a dam hose!!!!!!

may I point out that I said SOME ducks.... the year round was in reference to the geese. So maybe you should get down from your pedestal once in a while.

The point is: The Springtown pond is filthy and very low on water. I'm tired of everyone defending the Mayor, et al. They have a responsibility to correct the situation and quit passing the buck. The Mayor serves "Livermore" and that means ALL of it. If there's a problem he needs to fix it, for gawd's sakes. So many families and little kids love going to the pond and it's despicable that they can't enjoy it as they should. It should be a beautiful, relaxing place as it used to be in the past. They can put up fancy lights downtown but can't clean and irrigate the pond. Give me a break, I'm tired of the excuses!!!

Maybe your neighborhood could start an "Adopt the Pond" effort like some other groups do for beaches, parks etc that the state, city etc no longer maintain. Maybe you could start and once your efforts are noticed others would join in? It can't be that hard, really.

I understand what you're saying but how do you clean up a muddy pond with no available water resource? I still think this is a city responsibility which they are ignoring. Never had this problem with the previous mayor (that I remember anyway).

Its all about the water. The city was mad when we would not let them build low cost housing on the golf course so they contracted it out to someone and then took the water and gave them a pond that is not part of the golf course. That should be a city park that Livermore can be proud of. I am so upset that I now leave the back way so I don't have to see the abuse on the Goose.

perhaps they aren't "ignoring" it. It may just be way way way low on the totem pole of problems that livermore has.

Actually, yes, I am. But that is overseen by East Bay Regional Parks....how does that pertain to what we're talking about?

This has nothing to do with our fireman, police dept, crimes, etc. so I don't get your point. Oh wait, you're right, the new led lights downtown take priority. Darn, why didn't I figure that out.

honestly you should be more upset that the animals are so comfortable with humans, we are the problem in their eco-system, not the pond.

You are Clueless. This is the only place around that kids and adults can enjoy wild life first hand. It is sad to see all of them big Bird's so confused. They don't know any other life. For the last 2 years when the pond got low they would run a hose from the Fire Hydrant to fill it up. I remember when they did that I think the idiot with the golf course opened it 24/7 for a week and ran up a big water bill. At this point that is all it needs for about a hour. I don't know why we pay all these idiots who work for the city so much money when all they do is point fingers like little fu@#ken kids all day. They have made Livermore look like a hell hole to the people who pay attention
