Last Sunday November 20th saw the beginning of what hopefully will be an annual event in Brentwood. The "Brentwood Bowl" of youth football occurred at Liberty High School on a crisp evening following the scheduled games of the Diablo Valley Youth Football Conference Semi-final football games. The much anticipated game between the Patriots Varsity All Star Team versus the East County Lions has been talked about for years, and finally came to fruition as they faced off at 5PM that evening.

The Lions destroyed them.

Two touchdowns called back from the Lions, among the 3 they made plus extra points.

The Lions were within 5 yards of another touchdown at the beginning of the 4th quarter when the Refs pulled the Coup de Gras and called the game (even with the running clock, the Lions would have easily scored more touchdowns on the Patriots Varsity All Stars).

Good thing too. The Patriots Varsity All Stars only had 3 First downs in the entire game.

That ought to keep them quiet for a year or so.

Openings are available for quality position players to come over to the Lions if real football is desired by the youth of Brentwood.

The Delta Patriots were started by a bunch of parents whose kids got cut from East County or who thought little Timmy was the next Joe Montana. A few years back when my son was playing it was a good program with good coaches. Glad to see they have kept up the program. Still proudly wearing my old worn out East County Lions gear!!!!

Well, I didn't want to pour too much salt in their wounds, but, it was so lopsided as to be laughable. The thing is, they came in to Liberty HS (our Home Field), and wore their home jerseys. They also put this team together from the best players of their three Varsity Teams. They were dumb struck. I never saw so many BMW driving stuck ups shut up so quickly. East County rules, and now they know it.

I wish I would have known that this was going on. Would have been nice to see. Like I said earlier that league, as well as the BOYFL, was started by parents whose kids got cut from East County. It's just like little league vs. pony vs. travelball. You see the same parents go from one to the next because little Timmie is the next Nolan Ryan and their coach doesnt see it. Guess what people IT DOESNT CHANGE WHEN THEY GET TO HIGH SCHOOL EITHER!!!! Those same parents are in the stands complaining that their kid is the best and should be playing of someone elses kid.

Ain't that the truth. Well, little Timmie will learn on his own soon enough when he's playing the 5th quarter of a game already lost at Liberty/Heritage/Freedom and the light comes on. My kid is OK, and he can hold his own. He's made the Lions for several years now when the head coach was all for cutting those that couldn't hack it. It's a tough league, and they play quality teams. Too bad you couldn't make it, the air had that charge in it you feel when you're about to see something cool. I'd like to say that it will be an annual event, but we'll see. After last Sunday, the Patriots may not even be able to field a team next year!

First of all you should get your story straight...The DP Varsity Team that played East County were not the best players of their three teams...DP was invited to play in Vegas and who ever wanted to go and play could...So the team that played East County was DP's Varsity Vegas Team not a All-Start team that was put together...Second, DP Varsity Vegas Team only practiced together for about a week not a entire season like East County ...And another thing I don't drive a BMW...

I have seen the patriots in action for a couple of years. They are pompus sore loosers who got there butts kicked by the two Lodi Vasity teams and by the Colts who are in their second year as a team. When things did not go so well in the playoffs for the spoiled patriot parents, their preident threw a fit yelling and screaming...how childish. So the patriots decided to break off and start their own league. Sounds familiar...little johnny needs to be a winner, creating a water downed league is one way to prop little johnny up. I am happy to see them go> RIP Patriots. I suggest playing in the same league as the lions.

Well I don't know anything about the play of the Brentwood Patriots I can say this , they did not go to a water down league . My team as well as the cv panthers are in that league and as I recall the Lodi colts got sweep by both the raiders and panthers !!! My varsity pounds the colts 44-0 so say what u want about the patriots but are league is far from watered down!

East County is a good league I admit this. The DP Patriot team was put together by a President mentioned above by throwing temper fits who has since been removed from the league. Many of us felt the team they put together was of his own doing and has since moved on and created their own league in Oakley...I have good friends who play with East County who asked where are some of our players and why aren't they playing. SO before trashing the entire DP organization get the facts first. I watched the game and was impressed with East County, so congrats...and many of the boys who played for the Patriots are playing at DeLaSalle HS...so to the Lodi Colt...good luck to you playing us if you ever get out of the 4a program.

I accidentally stumbled onto this as as most people who supports their organization started reading and ALL of you should be ashamed of yourselves...Seriously what grade are you all in...Your NOT in high school but these little kids are in elementary and Jr. High school.
We say we do what we do for kids but you all are talking and acting like kids and if i was a parent trying to decide i sure would NOT go with any of you!!

SAHME ON ALL OF YOU
