gang violence in Livermore??

I lived in apartments and witnessed several gang related crimes. When I called the police to verify the details they lied and covered it up. I'm 48 yrs old never been involved with that life style at all, am not prejudice. But the illegals coming in from Mexico have an absolute hatred for Americans of any race. If you call the LPD and you do not live in the million dollar homes, most likely they won't come to take a report until the next day. I've witnessed many incidents involing guns at the grocery store on Portola too. Not a safe place to go late at night.

Just a couple of things??
1. One, how come you didn't call the police in reference to these gang incidents? Why are you calling to verify details of an incident you watched?
- The police do not make a habit of telling unknown folks about specific facts of an incident which may be under investigation.

2. How does LPD hide the violence? I'm sure they don't put a banner up downtown, but they don't hide it. I know for a fact that the police department has been doing community awareness presentations at schools, business, and work groups in which they present the information on Livermore gangs. Again, how are they hiding it?

3. Not involved in that life. I wonder why the Sureno gang members at the rest. didn't like your friend. I wonder why you have such a problem with Mexicans and "Sorenos" as you call them.

Lastly, all these gun incidents on Portola...did you call the police?

I don't mind when someone has a problem with the police. I have big problems when people make comments which are completely false and just plain wrong. Please, Please, Please,... when you comment on a group(the police), the government, hell, your next door neighbor, Make sure you have some factual information to back it up.

Small town, okay your one of the typical "Livermore is just a perfect safe suburb" type of people. With a current population count of 105,000 how is that small town??? thats mid sized city. And yes, you hvnt seen gangs because you hvnt been to North Livermore. Its pretty bad over there, 95% is hispanic. If you dont beleive me schedule a ride-along with the LPD, preferably a mid night shift patrolmen and see it for yourself! Livermore is no longer a little subrb but a city.

Also a very correct statement. The city council has made it priority to cover up the now nightly gang stabbings. Yes nightly! You have noi idea what goes on at 2 am. But i have to admit the Press Release Liuteant does a good job of keeping the gang violence hush hush, that way not to alarm the community.

Nightly stabbings eh???? You sure your in the right forum? I think Oakland or Richmond probably has there own TOPIX's page.

They should name this group, "FALSE TOPIX" due to the amount of false statements and misguided half truths that people try to pass off as fact.

Livermore is not the sleepy little cow town it was, and things will probably continue to change as the bay area pushes out and continues to grow, but nightly stabbings...not even close.

Yes. gang activity goes way up in the summer time. almost every night there is a stabbing. This is not so in winter time when crime goes down. Just look at the stitistics of crime rates, hotter weather creates more people going out side, getting into trouble. Dont belive but i have seen it myself.

No, there are not nightly stabbings in Livermore... I'd love to know where you get these facts.. There aren't even weekly stabbings...

Actually Livermore City is just about on the ball onn that one, I work as an EMT traing to be a full Paramedic with an AMR Ambulance unit, I work the midnight shift and almost every night there is a stabbing in Livermore, not all are gang related though, 60% or so are gang related, the rest are usually domestic violence stuff or something else.

This is all a by product of legal and mostly illegal immigration. We have to compromise our schools, neighborhoods, hospitals, and way of life. It is unfortunate that these youngsters don't appreciate the hand outs that are given to them and families on a daily basis to try and succeed here in America. Instead we get gangs,graffiti and violence. Wake up California! It only going to get worst. Our southern neighbors despise our American Heritage and will continue to disrupt it at our tax payer expense. What bothers me the most is that if we make any comment about the conditions we are in, we than are labeled as a Racist!

I think that all of this talk about gangs and their activity is pointless. Most of the people on this topic have hit the nail on the head. Gangs are for scared, uneducated, attention seeking children. Those "in charge" of these gangs are older "children" who have refused to grow up and accept the responsibility of contibuting to society in a meaningful way. Instead, they take advantage of the other scared children and pretend that they are important. The "tough" gang responders on this forum are scared children who don't fit in with the regular kids so they turn to the "gangs". There they can be part of somthing that requires less effort than studying, working hard, being a decent person, etc. You gang members never amount to anything more than either a criminal or a corpse. Us hard working, home owning, tax paying, law abiding citizens will always outnumber you and we will always be stronger than you. Enjoy your short "life" as an idiot following other idiots. I do agree to a certain extent. But how about the decent Americans who have got stuck in these neighborhoods? The youngsters at risk with the Nortenos and Surenos are the young hispanic. I'm a latino who has to police my children every day with the colors they where, who they associate with, and the neighborhoods that they walk by. The war between the 14 and 13 gang members is intensifying. It is obvious with all the grafitti and violence that we see around us and on the news. I hope that Livermore does not turn into a Oakland or Los Angeles. Some of these other cities in Alameda county have made that turn for the worst.

I understand your concerns, mexamermik. You are one of the good parents who still raises your kids instead of letting some else do it. Kids willl always need to be "policed". That is what parenting is. If you don't have control over your kids and teach them right from wrong, then, yes, you are asking for trouble. Too many parents don't "have time" to spend with their kids. Too many parents are not parents at all and that will lead kids to another source to find that parenting. That is what these gangs offer. They offer acceptance, guidance, comraderie and they help alleviate that fear of being alone. Gangs are run on fear. They start off scared and then they recruit the others who are scared to help alleviate those fears. Then they use fear to recruit more and to intimidate those around them. They do this not by themselves but as a group. It is more difficult to walk alone than walk with a group. You do not get stuck in these neighborhoods. People let their neighborhoods turn into this. People turn their heads and ignore the trouble because "it doesn't involve me" or because "it is none of my business". Then it becomes too late. We should not relenquish control of our neighborhoods because scared, ignorant kids walking together succeed in scaring us. Report crime. Report vandalism and graffiti. Report suspicious activity. Get to know your neighbors and don't let your neighborhood become a haven for misguided, scared kids. The police will investigate and they will show up when called. No one wants their neighborhood to be a festering cesspool of "gang bangers". I won't let a bunch of punk kids take that which I have worked for. There are more of us than ther are of them. We work hard and contribute to society and deserve what we have. They take the easy way out and deserve nothing.

So your saying all tyhe gangs, not just in Livermore, but Oakland, and LA are kids... I know what ive seen and these "kids' are in there 20s, sure there a bunch of idiots, but the point is there making Livermore into a lousy city to live in. Things are changing fast.
