What would be nice is if we taught our children to do the right thing like call 911. If those kids had just called 911 instead of trying to transport this stabbing victim on their own everyone would be fine. The fear of getting in trouble lead to one death and multiple injuries of innocent victims. I think the driver should be held responsible for breaking the law, speeding and running a red light. This is truely a senseless tragedy. Very sad.

Yeah......hanging around the scene of a stabbing sounds like a HELLA safe place to call 911. I think im going to look for a safe place on the freeway to play a game of chess. Or maybe ask my next surgeon to wear a blind fold during the operation. And yes....Brentwood will also fall into the same shit hole category as the rest of the far east bay in the next few years...its called the highway 4 bypass.....AKA the section 8 gateway. Oakley/Antioch/Brentwood should be nuked. Area is a fucking disease.

I see the "Moderator" has removed previous comments (including mine) when they weren't inappropriate. Ironic that now it's the MEDIA censuring what the public has to say. What's the point of letting residents comment if they're going to be removed?

This has nothing to do with section 8, every city has some bad apples in it. Have you watched the news lately crime has gone up in alot of bay area cities such as Fairfied and Pleasent hil!!! But actually if you did your research overall crime in brentwood is down thanks to are fully staffed police department!

I lived in Brentwood for 22 years. The only thing that was keeping the "bad apples" out of the area was how unaccessable the road systems were, brentwood blvd, empire ave, and deer valley road, being the only routes in and out of Brentwood. Due to the bypass creating a new outlet directing traffic straight off HWY 4 into Brentwood, and the community friendly section 8 program the county decided 6 years ago to start letting underprivelaged Richmond students into the areas school system has definately created a plethera of "bad apples." Brentwood is still a good town in comparison to the neighboring cities, but it`s inevitable that it will soon turn to shit.

the driver was trying to get a kid to the damn hospital. no one knew what would happen. it would have been stupid to stick around where the stabbing had happened. yes ashley had died and it is a tragedy we all loved her very much. those girls were trying to help a guy who got stabbed. the blame should NOT be put on the driver for trying to help a young man. you guys may have done the same thing if this had happened to you . i know ashley does not blame her friend, the driver, for her death. no one knew it would happen. life lesson , wear your seat belts. R.I.P Ashley. rest in paradise babygirl.

I unfortunately witnessed the accident and was on scene with these kids until they were all taken to the hospital. The whole situation is more than heart breaking. A young driver was TRYING TO HELP others, afraid of what had happened already that night and made a life changing decision.

Watching the events unfold in front of me made me go home, hug my own kids (the same age range of these kids) and talk to them about it. Continuing to teach them the best I can, remind them that they are not invincible (even when their intentions are good) is my first line of defense. Don't ever take your loved ones for granted for you never really know when you will talk to them for the last time.

My heart goes out to EVERY person, family and friend affected by this accident. RIP Ashley

i have looked at craigslist and saw many homes for rent in antioch that accept section 8 but there were very few brentwood homes that did. Brentwood has like only a few hundred section 8 recipients compared to antioch which is over a thousand!

Hey hole neither one of us know's what was going on in that truck that night, if the stabbing victim was near death or not most people with the adrenaline of the moment might take the same chance on a blinking light the point is the light shouldn't take death to fix
