It's selfish and a huge mistake because East Coco county is a great area to live. at least visually and for recreation. We're being used to help boost the economy of the Greater Bay Area. It's sad to say but we are kind of a dumping ground for problem families with single parents. I don't mean to generalize but I've seen the stats and we're much higher per capita then Oakland.

I'm lucky if I can even afford to get my hair cut after the bills are paid at the end of the month! These people are living the life of luxury while us working class are paying for it...I do believe that section 8 is beneficial for those who need it but come on...do they really need $3,000 a month to live in luxury homes...I'm just sooo fed up with all this and yes, there are 'for sale' signs on almost every road you turn on in Antioch and nothing is selling because who the hell wants to live in this piece of crap town. Sad to say but Oakley and Brentwood are starting to see the same problem.
And, did you know that there are signs all over the ghetto part of Oakland and San Fran saying "Hey, come live in Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood...we'll give you $200 more a month PLUS let you live in a brand new home." Sounds like Oakland and San Fran want to clean up their streets and send all their problems here, doesn't it??? I hope things change soon or I'm out of here too. No way I'm raising my kids in the "New Oakland"...no thanks!
I've gone to a few city council meetings - they know the problems we are having - so let's see if anything will be done about it.

This is why Antioch Police Department ie Officer S. Martinez is getting sued right now becuz he racially targated an off duty Afro-Amrican Police Officer who he assumed was a Section 8 resident when in fact the off-duty cop owned the home in question. To Add further insult to the fact the A.P.D Officer made racial comments on the police dispatch radio suggesting that the Afro-Amrican off-duty police officer was an "Alleged-Homeowner serveral times whats up with that bull@#$&?

Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. The Board of Supervisors act as the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners with full authority to set policy, approve their budget, and hire or fire its executive personnel. The BOS are also held responsible for problems with the housing authority.

If you don't believe this information go to www.contracostahousing.org and look under Board of Commissioners. Before you start having diarrhea of the mouth, know the facts otherwise you make yourself look like an uninformed moron!!!!!!

Can you read? The statement says there is overwhelming evidence the proves there is fraud within the section 8 program. No where does it say ALL section 8 people abuse and fraud the program. You are the spin doctor who is blinded by ignorance.

It's what some of us have been saying. I agree with you 100 percent. Alot of people on section 8 are moms who are going to school trying to get their education to go to work. Another voice of reason. This forum is finally attracting intelligent, normal thinking people. The Section 8 has NEVER been about race. It has always been about the behavior of individuals of all races who have moved into Antioch and began threatening our quality of life with their criminal activity.

There are good harding working section 8 tenants who are positively contributing to our community. They are not the ones we are concerned about. Its the thugs and their family and friends. As far as I am concerned, run all of them out of town.

a) I was teasing about the music...but let's be real about the 80s...without the pioneer bands such as the Beatles, New York Dolls, Joy Division, TRex, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Velvet Underground, Bowie,The Clash and the Ramones there might not be very much to celebrate in the 80s...after all most of the 80s bands used these bands as their influences!

As far as East Bay Antioch, Oakley etc...Oakland and Alameda are just trying to take the hurt off of Richmond, El Cerrito and San Pablo where NOBODY wants to go..
