McCain tours U.S. heartland

Republican presidential candidate John McCain had his own German experience Thursday - at a restaurant in Ohio.

Obama gives a speech to tens of thousands in Berlin -- McCain gives a speech to dozens at a German restaurant in Ohio. And blasts Obama for getting too filled with himself. Maybe it's McCain's campaign that has to jazz things up a little, instead of getting all defensive about what Obama's doing.

McCain did meet with the Dalai Lama, significant for a conservative, since many of them are Christian evangelicals who have blown off the Dalai Lama's views as irrelevant or heathen; however, it was Republican Bush who met with him first in defiance of powerful China. So this was a good thing -- but McCain being himself, nothing can make him look exciting.
