No Helmet. Those two words we have heard all too often this summer.
But at the speed many ride the only thing a helmet would do is make it an open casket funeral for the family. Sad very sad.

My friend works in the ER at a hospital...they call them "Donor-cycles".

Life is short, is it really worth risking your life on 2 wheels on unkept roads and other motorists that just do not see you or are not paying attention?

Please stop including whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet as it not against the law to do.

Would you include whether the victim of a car accident was wearing a helmet even though it could have save his or her life? What about a person involved in a bar fight? Surely, a helmet would save some lives.

Maybe we should all walk around in a giant protective bubble that keeps us not only from traumatic injuries but also diseases. See where I'm going with this line of thought?

I always wear my helmet when I ride (7,000 miles annually), but that's my choice and should not be up to the state.

Why wear a helmet when you have no brain to protect.

Few things in life are more thrilling than blasting down the road on a powerful bike without a helmet. Why would anyone take precaustions and ruin the thrill?

Same deal with jumping out of airplanes. Anyone can skydive with a parachute. The true thrill comes from jumping without one.

Everyone knows that it is not against the law to ride without one. I think they just mention it so maybe the next time someone gets on their bike they think about wearing one.
Also ... not to take sides but they do mention when someone is or is not wearing a seatbelt. I understand that there is a law about wearing one, but they still mention it. You know I never understood how they can remove the law about wearing a helmet but make it a law to wear a seatbelt.

But you are right why not walk around with one on all the time ... you never know when something may happen.

No, but they do include whether they were wearing a seat belt. Sorry, I'm not getting your point. Helmets are a choice; seat belts in a car/SUV/truck/van are the law.

You and your friend are very closed minded. What is your freedom of choice worth to you? Riding a motorcycle is a choice that a lot of people, myself included, have freely and happily made. Who gave you the right to judge or speculate?

No law to wear a helmet, hmmm how does that stay out of the books, a pay-off maybe? This makes no sense, as a cyclist and horseback rider, it would be silly not to wear head-gear. I guess it's just the person's stupidity, as I see it's mostly the 60 and up generation getting knocked off by doing this.....hey, keep it up, I need social security too!

People who don't own motorcycles or ride without helmets don't have any basis for understanding what this is all about.

You have to lookin for a thrill in order to understand.

Safety is of no consequence. The only consideration is the thrill. Anyone can lead a boring life that contains no thrills. But what would be the point in that? Who wants to be safe if no thrills are involved?

I don't think they are closed minded ... just stating the facts. It is a choice and there is no law, so if you choose to ride without one you ARE putting your own life in your own hands. Just think about your loved ones that are left that just wish you had worn yours.
He was not judging anyone ... just asking a question. Relax the law is still on your side you cannot get a ticket for not wearing one but you can still die by not wearing one. Common sense not a law.
