What a bunch of trash. The community would be better off with a stinking landfill than one of these disgusting casinos. These people promoting gambling are absolute purveyors of filth.

So the Columbus casino will only create 2,000 jobs? I thought the Issue 3 supporters promised 34,000 jobs statewide?

Either Columbus is getting screwed out of their promised employment share, or a casino owner....gulp....lied.

Those who proposed the new casino's did not tell the full story of what they proposed, nor did they reveal the flaws in the studies they quoted. Misdirection or smoke and mirrors is not a lie, but it is not honest either.

It is now time for the legislature to step in and make sure that what moves forward is in Ohio's best interest not just the developers who wrote it.

The 34,000 number included construction jobs that are only temporary and I think they calculated how many jobs will be created in auxillary businesses.

I believe there is a misprint here. The headline should read.

What a load of crap. Doesn't matter to me what they say or do, there is NOTHING that is going to make me like that casino or be proud of it. This will just ensure that I never visit the Arena District nor spend money there.
It is truly sad that despite all the efforts of the mayor and others to rebuild inner city Columbus and make it something appealing, we will have this gigantic cesspool instead.

my understanding was that the 34,000 jobs created would also include the temporary construction jobs associated with building the casinos---so the 2,000 jobs in this story are likely the "permanent" casino jobs in Columbus alone.

I voted no, but I guess all we can do now is hope they deliver and choose not to personally support them...

It's really sad. Columbus is a nice place to raise a family. In about 10 years it's likely to be a cesspool

The 2,000 does not include all the new bail bondsmen that will find a home in Columbus.

See the CNN.com article about the "machine malfunction" and the casino refusal to pay. Ohio will need a strong gaming commission to make sure Ohioans are not subject to "machine malfunctions"

Hey, when do the strip clubs, massage parlors, liquor stores, smoke shops, adult novelty shops, social services offices and pawn shops open up in the Arena district? I want one of those jobs!

I am not "fearful" of the casinos. I like to gamble. I love Vegas. But I think Columbus is a stupid place for a casino, and I predict it will last a few years before closing down.

Issue 3 backers have said 15,000 new permanent jobs. Columbus may only get 2,000 and I suspect a portion will go to people outside of Ohio. It does not look like we are getting a fair shake of the anticipated increased jobs. Surprise--surprise!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Aquarius

You're full of energy and determination right now, especially when it comes to nailing an ambition or making a name for yourself. You'll want to give it your best shot, and you'll get very annoyed if you feel your efforts are being frustrated by others. Watch out for a rather tense atmosphere with someone older or more influential than you, as this could lead to a row.
