I read in the paper that Villa Rica Police are getting $1,001.00 christmas bonus. I guess they wanted to beat out Carrollton PD by a dollar.. Those guys and gals deserve it. I know their families will have a good christmas

Yes, they get a paycheck! You really should use what little bit of brain you have before speaking. Have you ever heard of a bonus being a part of that income? I bet not since you live off the government!

ooooh , don't worry friends , mr. hicks , muse and thompson will get a bonus- don't think for second they won't, Queen Sharon will make sure her pets get something. they just will not tell the citizens or the rest of the employees. it's easy to give money away when it's not your's ,and it's eeeasy to hide money behind closed doors.

I agree that the city hall employees will probably get a big bonus but no one will ever know about it. Oh well

It's suppose to be all City Employees not just the Police Department getting the bonus. Heck it's been nearly 5 years since city employees have had a raise ... but I am betting the idiot mayor will veto it.

Just because I make a comment that it's been nearly 5 years since city employees have had a raise doesn't mean that they aren't thankful for their jobs; but you know that city wastes money on the most ridiculous things. They changed insurance last year to Kaiser Permanente and it is CRAP; $50 to fill a prescription vs. the $10 to $20 it use to cost. City employees are OUT a lot of money and have had no cost of living increase in going on 5 years. There are jobs out there - a lot of people who are unemployed don't want to work or are waiting for some high paying job instead of taking what's available. I am thankful for what I have but we have worked hard for it too. I get tired of hearing people say to be thankful you have a job.

heres a plan.Get some quotes from blue cross under the independent policies and get a quote from them.Alot of time its alot cheaper to get a independent policy than try to buy thru your employer.Let them give you the money they take out of your check for healthinsurance

Only trouble with that plan, David, is the independent policies raise your premiums every year, and group plans don't. You can opt out of the employer insurance plan, but I can guarantee what you're paying in premiums on the group plan (yourself and dependents) will be waaaaaay less than going private.

My husband signed up for BC/BS of GA for $109 a month 7 years ago. He's had no major changes in his health, except he's 5 years older. He had to drop them this past month because the premium was jumped to $600 a month.

If you have health insurance through your employer, even crappy Kaiser Permanente, it's cheaper than any private policy.

I agree that Law Enforcement should be one of the top paid careers. Not that Officers are any different than anyone else, but because their job can be well equipped with unforeseen danger and life threatening situations. Granted, with higher pay alot of people would think that any random joe would apply to be Officers but it takes a pretty good background check and clear past to become an Officer.

I cannot believe this myth continues to be perpetuated.
