Are there any Bremen natives that remember "mr. Greenjeans" store that was just down from the Arrow shirt comp.? This was in the early to mid '70's. I can still picture him in his overalls and the smell of the old building as you walked in. Classic
I remember it/him well. I grew up just behind him and he was such a good man to me.

I remember the Top Dollar and Garrett's Soda Fountain. Remember the little ole soda fountain on the corner where the sweet old lady worked and walked home everyday where witchers law office is now? Good Times.

Oh yeah, that reminds me of the old theater. We would go to the movies everyFriday night. Our parents would drop us off and leave Lol! We would squirt our water guns at the screen and Ms Gossage would walk around with her flashlight shining the light down the rows. I remember the only movie my mother wouldn't take us to was the movie"10" with Bo Derek.
Remember the Dr. Evil show? That nut and his driving around for a week.

The Longshore's owned the boogie shop and radio shack. I don't remember what else. Wasn't Mr Whitton the man who owned the shoe shop?

Let me guess, the parking lot across the street (Tennessee Ave.) from the church, where the Rideshare and Douglas County Van Pool vans are parked? I had a feeling that had to have been something else in the past. I can almost see the building up against where those trees are, and those triangle flag streamers you often see at used car lots, running across the lot.

Calico,

you are correct Jim and Charlotte Longshore and ran the Game Room out on Old Hwy 27, The Boogie Shop and the Radio Shack. Jims first contribution to the community was as a Radio Broadcaster at WGMI on Tallapoosa St. in Bremen. When I was in highschool I used to work with Jim's sidekick broadcasting Bremen Varsity Basketball games from remotes. That was fun...

Mr. Whitton was the Shoe Shop Guy in Bremen and a great neighbor of mine. He died a long time ago now.

When I was a little kid I lived about a mile from the elementary school I went to, and I walked home in the afternoon (imagine that). This was in Pace, FL, at the time a dinky little town in NW Florida.

There was a pharmacy, Fortune's Pharmacy, that had a soda fountain. A WWII vet used to hang out there in the afternoons and would buy all the kids Cokes and just sat and talked to us.

He wasn't a predator, or a perv or anything, just a lonely old man who loved to talk to little kids and buy them Cokes. No one thought anything bad about it.

It was a simpler time.

Man! Y'all are bringing back some great memories! The Boogie Shop-Mr. whitton's shoe repair! I remember all of those places! Great times! Are there any guys whose father took them to Doug's to get their haircut? He was always smiling and so friendly; and remember his curly hair?

I remember when Lovvorn's Pharmacy burned and gutted in or about 1972 or 73. The Fire that burned the nice white Brick home on Church Street which they rebuilt years later almost to it's origninal design and the burning of Food Giant in 1981 or 82? And Ma Walker of Walker's soda Fountain uptown Bremen.
