Typical Politician

I've noticed Bill Heath's name in the news a lot surrounding the topic of education. My question is, what has he done for the people he represents? I haven't seen that he's accomplished anything for his district. He certainly hasn't valued the opinions of the parents or the teachers in his district. Is there anyone planning on running against him during the next election that might actually listen to the voters they represent? I think it's time to vote out these useless politicians who are only pushing their personal agendas on the public. We need to bring back some accountability to these leaders in our state and our national government.

He sucks just like the rest of the politicians. Politicians in our government (local, state, and federal) do not really care about the people. Most of them are a bunch of crooks if you want to know the truth. They are out there to fill their pockets with $$ and don't really give a crap about the people..It is all about $$. I agree our leaders should be held accountable. I heard the bill that he is presenting/supporting is holding teachers accountable based on their class test scores. He should create the same sort of bill for himself and all the other leaders.

He's completely out of touch with the people in this area and this state. Someone seriously needs to run against him and everyone rally to get that person elected. He knows nothing and has done nothing since he was elected.

Why do people want somebody to "care" about them. If he never does anything but cause the government to stand still, he's doing pretty good. If he wants to do great, I'd opt for killing about half the government that we have now and doing away with a whole bunch of ludicrous laws. Care about us. Sounds a Democrat that never got weened off their Momma. Take care of yourself and don't ask for other people in the State to take "care" of you.

Bill Heath is not a republican, he is for increasing government and spending federal money no matter how many strings are attached. That is not the mark of a conservative. He does not support this community, in fact he believes most of the citizens are not nearly as intelligent as himself. He does not support teachers or education or he would not be trying to pass a bill on merit pay. I wonder if he would like to base his income on how another person performs on a test. He has insulted people who have emailed him as well as in person. Just this week he insulted a citizen at the town hall meeting at the high school. Is this the kind of person we want representing us? Someone who looks down on us and thinks he can vote the way he feels is best because we're not smart enough to make decisions.

Hey people for smaller govnt, to be for smaller government you have to be willing to actually cut government. How about doing away with public school altogether and letting parents (of which I am one) pay the cost of their own kids. We are already on the road of rewarding voting blocks out of paying school taxes anyway including no old folks. Next on that list will be no soldiers paying and then farmers and then poor. The only people let that will be paying school taxes after the special interest voting blocks have been taken "care" of will be the working middle class of child bearing age anyway. Let me go ahead and pay my own way and don't force me to pay others. Now that is a big cut to start. Then get rid of social security. It is a pyramid scheme scam anyway. It's amazing that people don't understand that little phenom. Then get rid of all laws that protect me from myself. To be for smaller government requires people that believe in bold steps and action. It means that churches and private individuals will have to take care of those that need help. The government, including public, non competitive compulsory education is the problem and not the answer.

I disagree with part about what everyone seems to think he thinks on education. I definitley disagree with the part that he supports teachers pay based on test scores. For one very big reason that his daughter is a Senior at LaGrange College and is about to enter the workforce as a TEACHER. So yeah I think that he'd might care about the issue.

Well I guess Ur right. It's Senate Bill 386. Damn well I guess there isn't any reason for teachers to get master's degrees anymore.

But just looking through some of these bills he did support Senate Bill27 for April being Confederate Heritage and History Month (which passed), he supported Senate Bill 59 Restricting Fraud Emails, He voted against Obama's Freedom of Choice Act, and he did vote for Senate Bill 1014 to Extend Bush's tax cuts for small businesses (Which is extremely important in our small business communtiy. But there are pros and cons to anyone who is elected republican or obamacrat.

I think (my opinion )that heath ever ran in the first place was the CASH TOWN ROAD improvement and some jealousy.
The Darnell's thought the ex-dot board member Max Golden appointed by Tom Murphy was benefiting greatly from the road improvements more so than her family even calling in the news media. Next thing you know their friend and cash town neighbor Donald Heath threw his hat in the ring to run against Murphy. Boy did he go through some of the money his dad left him. Most remember his airplane and banners over all the ball games and big events
So he got elected, HAS ANYBODY IN PAULDING OR HARALSON SEEN ANYTHING BENEFITING OUR COUNTIES? Look at the records online for what all our lawmakers discuss and vote on

When Bill Heath ran against Tom Murphy...Bill was quick to tell eveyone that Tom had done everything for Atlanta and the rest of the state but nothing for this district. Looks like Bill has done neither.

Bill Heath won the race against Tom Murphy in 2002 and remains in office today because of one county (Paulding) Most of the people in Paulding County are transplants that have only been there in the last 15 years. They vote for a republican 95% of the time. It would not matter if every person in Haralson County voted against Heath. He would still win because Paulding County voters out number Haralson County voters 5 to 1. The only way to get rid of Heath is to go out and find a Paulding County Republican that can beat him in a primary. Bill Heath knows this! This is why he does not even have to campaign any more. He could also care less what Haralson County thinks of him. He never beat Tom Murphy in Haralson County and he knows it. All Tom Murphy had to do the last time he ran was get Paulding out of his district but he chose not to! That's why Tom lost in 2002. In 2004 Heath would have had to run against a Paulding County Republican and he chose to run for the state senate instead. He barely beat James Garner who I think was a much better candidate.

I sure am glad that (some) folks in Haralson County elected "Master Tom" so many time. I mean he did so much to help the county. Like that big lake he had built to help us weather the droughts. Oh wait!! My bad. It was not built. Seems that he pissed off so many folks over the years that when they had the chance his pet project was suddenly unfunded. Then there was all the money in the early 80's that Master Tom got for law enforcement agencies in Harlason County to put on DUI Task Force officers, STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program)Units, new on the spot alco sensors to screen DUI offenders to make the roadways so much safer. All those new patrol cars with strobe lights etc. OOPS. My bad again. Seems that Carroll County got that along with OTHER counties in the area. Yeah it was sad that the answer to new patrol cars for Tallapoosa PD during that time was to buy "Old Trooper Cars" from the state.

Explain to me why Mr. Bridges is more qualified than Mr. Heath.

Well John, as a long time employee at the Capitol I can say that under Murphy's watch the money for a resevoir was set aside, determining a proper location with DNR and EPD approval because of various wildlife concerns was a delay. Heath got elected and that money went to other projects because Murphy's friends in the House weren't going to let that upstart get the money. According to Heath that shouldn't have mattered anyway as he said all that was necessary to get the lake was having the "want to" to get it, a quality he said he possesed. Guess he must not have, since we still don't have the lake.
I think I remember from other posts that you've claimed some LE connection. Your views aren't surprising if I'm remembering that correctly. Many LE personnel didn't like Murphy for his being a defense attorney and his treatment of them on the stand. Anybody could understand your bias were that the case just as anyone should be able to understand my bias in his favor after working at the Capitol.
As far as Bridges (or Hodges) qualifications vis a vis those of Bill Heath I think it's safe to say neither could do less for HaralsonCounty than Heath has done so we'd be no worse off.
