"Shift Happens" Watch the video and maybe you'll understand why we can't stay conservative. The world is changing faster than ever and if we stay the same we will be left behind. As it happened to England, it is happening today, to the USA. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

A world with less threats of nuclear disaster sounds better. Do you want to remain a 'waring nation'? Fighting over the last drop of oil? Losing our loved ones? Or can we reduce tensions with other countries, and then spend our money on better things than bombs? What was I supposed to see, were those bad ideas in your viewpoint? What did you think of the video I linked?

Well, easy to see this discussion is fruitless. If you really believe that the other countries will lay down their arms because we do, you really must not have been off the porch for a long time. Any intelligent person will tell you the best offense is a great defense. After we destroy all of our weapons, what defense will you manage to muster? What are you wanting to spend our money on, more welfare? Free health care to those too sorry to work for it? Free drugs to the addicted? When they come over here, you won't be able to hide behind that high draft number you know. When they are kicking down your door, whatcha gonna do?

I don't think you realize what the Obama video was saying. He is saying, let's take our finger off the nuclear trigger with the Soviet Union. Bush has done some of this already. The number of missles has been reduced. Obama is saying he would not waste money on an unproven missle defense system the way we're throwing money away on it now. Obama was saying he would NOT put weapons in space. I think there are only about 3 countries that have that possibility now. He's trying to avoid an arms race in outer space which would bankrupt the USA worse than we are now. I'm not saying I'll vote for him or not, but those ideas are better than world war over oil.

Having viewed the requested montage of, at best, the belittleing of the U.S.A. I have came to several conclusions.1. It doesn't matter to me how many Chinese or Indian graduates of academia there are, because if you check the numbers they also have more murders, rapes, diseases, you get the picture. Now I'm sure you will say there are more of them than there are of us and that's why. Exactly right, and you also make my point. If I have a thousand head of cattle and you have a hundred, I will sell more beef than you all other things being equal. I will also lose more. It never ceases to amaze me at how complex some people want to make simple things. As for Sen. Obama, he apparently is of the mindset that if a homeowner has a gun for protection, he is as quilty as the scurilous theif or robber. For without a gun only one of you would get hurt. And that's better than both getting hurt. Right? So Dave if you see the logic in Sen. Obama's speech and say they are good ideas then you should get rid of that 9mm and both clips and be part of the solution. For if you are thinking of self-defense then you like the U.S. are part of the problem. A "warring nation on a smaller scale",to coin a phrase. That's all for now, I'm sure too much by some estimates, but I must check and see where I can do more good. Bye for now. God Bless and take care.

Sorry for the lack of enueration. Train of thought had a runaway. Place numbers where they help out the most.

OK, let me try this from a different angle. Your video shows how far behind the US has fallen behind the rest of the world in many different ways, but no reasoning behind it. Obama's video show how much further behind he'd like to see us. The space defense may prove to be all for naught, but it is something headed in a positive direction. It is leading the world in technology and ambitious goals. As far as the finger on the trigger with Russia, think those days passed years ago, better be thinking of several countries before worrying about Russia. As far as the US falling behind in the intellectual field, think that could possibly be because the way kids are raised these days? Don't blame it on the teachers, blame it on the parents. Kids that only have the responsibility of choosing which game to play today on their playstation so they won't bother mommy or daddy because they don't want to show any attention to them, don't have much of a chance. The US has grown too soft, people have it too good. When we change so that only the strong survive, the one's that are willing to work will be the only one's that succeed, and the one's that are just waiting on the check to come in the mail have to just keep waiting, then we as a nation will see that we have to work for some things. Before you jump on that, yes, there are people that need and deserve assistance, but too many have come to expect it. I know far too many families here in CC that the only life they've ever known is going to the mail box to get their pay check. And I'm sure that CC pales in comparision to the nation as a whole. People are demanding too much from this nation. As an example, use New Orleans. Yes, those people deserved help, but the majority of the one that were screaming the loudest that the government wasn't doing enough to help them had nothing to begin with, living off the government, demanding free housing when the shacks that they were in wasn't fit for anyone to live in to begin with, demanding new homes, demanding the government build back in areas that are unsafe because of the levy system but that's where their checks come, and all the while, beating the system. How can we as a nation progress?

IMO - The reason the USA is falling behind is our government is spending way too much on war equipment and not enough on education of our kids. IMO - On the welfare issues, if the jobs weren't being taken out of the USA, there would be more people that had jobs and less on welfare. I'll be the first to admit, not all would work, but it would sure help if there were decent paying jobs available. I can't see anything the Republicans have done to fix either issue. "No Child Left Behind" hasn't helped and is a flop. Jobs are moving out of the USA faster than ever before, nothing done to stop it. Illegals coming in and taking the lowest paying jobs, nothing done about it. Why would we let them continue the process of letting the USA decline?

It doesn't matter how much you spend on education, if the child is not motivated to learn. That's the point behind that it's the parents fault. If the child knows that if he or she refuses to learn how to read, automatic check and health care for the rest of their lives, ie generations of going to the mail box to get their pay check. Jobs leaving the US? I to some extent agree, but not blaming the republicans for it, I blame both parties, all politicans, no matter what level they serve. But, as some will quickly point out, the republicans do at least try to offer tax breaks for them to stay. Personally, I think it should be a law, if you're going to sell it here, make it here. Illegals coming in? Shoot the bastards! I know, a little over the top, but something has to stop them. Deportation sure isn't working. The fence won't work. Shooting them should be made a sport in my opinion, open season year round. If you shot someone trying to break the law, say raping an old woman, you'd be a hero. Should be the same for the continuous line of illegal immigrants that do it over and over. Breaking the law is breaking the law. But, from what I understand, ALL parties involved, Obama, Clinton, McCain all support open borders. Personally, I think it's a shame for the voters of the US to not have a viable choice this fall. Think this will be the first election that I can remember where the selection of the VP running mate will probably determine the outcome of the President.

Thank you Video, I agree with your train of thought. No matter how much money you spend on education does not mean they will learn. It has to start at home. Not that this should come to be, but if the punishment was hanging in the courthouse square or where ever it happened(and not wait 15 to 20 years to do it) came back into existence, then people would think twice about doing dirty deeds maybe. I will never be without a gun/weapon to protect my home and family even if the goverment considers it a crime, unless they take drastic measure and that will never happen. Guns will never be a thing of the past. I will be darned if criminals have one and I do not. I don't care what anyone says, it is my God given right to own a gun(or for now it is). The selection of the candidates are the best but we will have to make our own choice and pick the best of the evils. Alien smalien, I am tired of them. They ought to come as legal citizens and pay taxes.

That would definitely stop the invasion that is being discussed on here. LOL
