County Council decides on manager salary - The Park Record

The Summit County Council suggested Wednesday the new county manager receive an annual base salary of between $110,000 and $147,000. The manager can also receive up to $20,000 for moving expenses, but the position should not include a monthly housing allowance, Summit County Councilman Chris Robinson said.

Food for thought. Why have a pay range that starts at $110,000? Would anyone with any credentials take that? If the new Manager is to make no less than 15% more than the highest paid merit employee($118,798) that works to a starting salary of $136,617.

I am sure it is a thankless job and compensation needs to be comesurate with the duties expected. Just thought it funny that the listed starting salary is so much lower than the recommended salary.
