Hi Pain Free at Last! Its so nice to hear from you! Yes, I agree, finding "Mr. Right" fr CPP's is the key! You have to be able to bond with this doctor, trust him/her with yr life , literally. I believe I saw at least 30 physcians before I found right person. Not all for pain management but all r/t my illness. Have seen only 4 or 5 that would manage my pain. Two, I only saw once, never to go back....onmoved out of state, another moved out of state & then back, however had already found new doctor. Currently the doctor managing my meds is an internist, and I am VERY happy with him!
Anyway, I hope to talk more, now off to appt. Isn't this our life, appt. after appt.? I hope you stay and help this forum stay afloat! I so appreciate yr input.
Tell all yr CPP friends...I know you have some, we tend to flock together.

Discriminants like you are one of the many reasons CPP need a place of support be offered. Yes, I agree there are many people who go from doctor to doctor shopping for drug scripts with sole purpose either to get high or make a buck! They give true chronic pain suffer's a bad rap and we very much pay the price for their actions , example, your comment. Also, dont be so close-minded as to believe that ALL CPP's are on narcotics! There many of us, myself included, that seek relief from other sources such as meditation, accupuncture, physical therapy, chiaropractory, hydrotherapy, musictherapy and many more!
The reason that I went from doctor to doctor in begining of my illness was to find an accurate diagnosis. It would have been much easier (AND alot cheaper!!!) for me to just take the 102 pills those doctors gave out and shut up and be a good little "zombie" like they would have liked! However, I wanted answers & to be healed, NOT a handful of pills!
As I have said all of this, I don't want those of you out there who have uncontrolled pain to think I am against taking narcotics! No one deserves to lose their life to pain! This was the case with me for a long time...and until I found accurate treatment, I did take narcotics and lots of them....very strong ones too. With absolute certainty I know that I would have ended my life without narcotics due to the unbearable pain!
I am very sorry this thread didnt catch on and hope that one ugly post didnt discourage anyone who needed a support system.
AND to YOU, my judgemental brother, I ,still , do not wish the unrelenting, unforgiving, &, unbearable pain that many of us live with day to day, upon you! I can only hope you learn some empathy without having to walk in our shoes to do so. But, if it would be your destiny....Ill be here willing to listen and help where I can.

Back in the 80's I worked with Tulane in New Orleans. I worked with lasers treating diabetics eyes for bleeding blood vessels. This was when laser treatment was in its infancy.
Suddenly this year I wake up at night with my hands hurting like someone had beat them with a hammer. Shooting pain from my fingertips all the way up to my shoulders.
As fate would have it I ran in to a friend who worked with me at Tulane. He has the same problem as I do with his hands.
He told me that burning argon gas from the laser emitted copper fumes that had caused our condition.
My hands hurt like hell at night. I am up four sometimes five times a night. I am lucky to get three hours sleep.
Does anyone know of this condition?

I have an auto-immune disease. I began showing symptoms about 12 yrs ago. I was misdiagnosed many times, and had many unecessary surgeries which also caused more problems. Honestly, I believe I may never be fully diagnosed (my dr. agrees) ; at this time, I do not want to leave the state to investigate things further. I just want to be as healthy as I can be....today.
Speaking of states......why doesnt yr ie show up as TX ?

I found Dr.Jennings was the best. Really was compassionate and caring. I messed up and missed a few appointments cause I was into too much pain and they dropped me. If you are looking for real help, not just pills, I think he is the best!

Who is a good pain management doctor in Lafayette?
Yea, Jennings good. I think Dr. S. Reese in Opel. might be better fr u cause he will research info. fr you if necessary. You'll like him, just a regular-Joe type of man. Cajun, LSU fan, a "man's man". Again though, if yr looking to be helped & not just drug-seeking.
Can u tell more about what you were doing @ Tulane / who was physician you were workin with ? I do know a few eye doctors that were working in NO area during that time. Id like to try to help. If you want, u can PM me on this site & will be private. Are you registered?

Hands, you still around ? Tryin to get more info fr you about problems you having....
Need to know, name of clinic?
OR. name or just initials of who you were working for. Maybe something more specific about what you were doing.
Have 2 doctors waiting fr me to f/u with more info to try to help you.
Again, if you register, we can communicate privately. If you dont respond, Ill just assume you got help you needed.
Know Reese nog in Laf., but right off 167, and worth the trip!

medical cannabis is good for this. Ask your doctor, because you have a right to the medicine under LA RS:40

Hey Richard,
I am with Legalize louisiana and you got that correct! Althou as of now, there are only 3 Dx. approved by that law. The list of accepted Dx. need to be greatly expanded.

We at Legalize Louisiana want to to thank you for helping us spread the word about LA RS:40.

RT,
Yea, I knnow quite a few CPP's that get good relief, both in & out of LA. I have even had a doctor (in the area) comment that he is sorry illegal b/c proven to be an excellent pain reliever. I wish more PM doctors in this area could be as forward thinking. However, just as with all pain meds, what works for one, doesnt always work as well for othhers. I fall into the latter catagory. But fr CPP's that are searching fr pain relief, it is definitely worth trying! Especially those whom traditional & pharmaceutical methods are not / no longer effective.
