oh for crying out loud, what were these people doing with three houses? I mean a townhome in Brea? give me a break. Stupid is as stupid does.

Really? Despite already owning a home, they buy, not one, but TWO more high-value homes with nothing but worker's comp and social security for income? Most 12-year-olds could tell you that's a really bad idea. Shame on the lenders for approving loans without verifying that the applicants had the capacity to repay them. But far more shame on people who don't even make a token effort to think for themselves.
When are people going to learn that, just because a bank will let you do something does NOT mean you are no longer responsible for your own choices? Banks were never meant to be a substitute for your own brain. I mean, really, how flagrantly stupid is it to assume that being able to do something automatically means it's a good idea?
