Just a few Comments, he Did get off light, five armed Bank Robberies with a loaded firearm, I believe the law says that each bank robbery carries a five year sentence plus another five years per robbery because of the use of a firearm. He could have got 50 years,(a life sentence)
Second, this guy got a forever life pension, which he will continue to collect in prison, Until the day he dies, after working only eight years, sweet deal. People in private industry could work 30 years for less.
A family man doesn't stick guns in people's face for his own personell greed, i.e. nice home in wealthy area, big S.U.V. A good father doesn't terrorize and victimize other people's Kids, Brothers, Sisters, Moms, Dads. This guy didn't care who he had traumatized forever.
Beacause your father drinks doesn't mean it's okay to grab your gun and rob innocent people.
Lastly there in nothing polite about a big goofball **** sticking a loaded gun in the face of barley minimum wage employee.
Guys, we are in a recession, peopole are out of work, loosing their homes, this guy did what he did for pure greed for himself.

Is the chambered hollow point round still make him a nice guy? Why couldn't this loser live within his means or get a light duty police job?

Unfortunately there are no light duty jobs available at the PPD. Besides, I really doubt he would have taken one, if offered. Seems like he wanted out so he took the disability retirement route. A tax free retirement sounds good at first, but that appeal quickly disappears when you get married and have kids.

Sometimes the only difference between the cops and the robbers is the uniform.

that must've been hilarious " whats this red dye all over your face", as for getting off light he did, was it federal time? he's looking at doing atleast 80% percent , but if he's state property 1/2 maybe even less time the bad news is he's still getting his old pension, and trust me he will get taxed. CRIME DONT PAY

Wow. I played Little League Baseball at Smith Park in Pico Rivera with Vincent. His dad was our coach and manager. He played first base and was really good at it.

Put your money where your mouth is; name the "big" problems PPD has. And just exactly what Chief are you talking about? Pasadena P.D. is probably the finest Dept. in the San Gabriel Valley. Cantu, who hasn't been a cop since 1996, in no way impacts the Officers working at the PPD. I really doubt if you could find one officer who sympathizes with him. During the time that he was an officer, he never brought disgrace upon himself or the Dept. Don't go bad mouthing the PPD when know nothing about it or it's personnel. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the only thing you know about the PPD is what the inside of the jail looks like.
I hear you. the last sentence might be harsh, but overall the ppd does an amazing job
just wondering

Bottom line is Cantu liked to be flashy and give off the appearance that he was rolling in the dough...come to think of it, makes you wonder where the wad of cash he used to like to flash came from???? He absolutely lived beyond his means, it got over his head and he needed to resort to robbing banks. He had several options, move out of his RENTED home in a very nice area, have his wife get a job since his kids were school age already (but that would ruin the appearance), or simply downsize like so many other families have had to do - and remember, he committed his crimes before we were in a recession! Labeling Cantu as a family man is an insult to the millions of real family men who get up each morning and make an honest attempt to support their families the old fashioned way, by earning it - not stealing it.
Well said!!!!!
just wondering

<quoted text>You are a ****.****.s ! White boy retired Pomona police officer Frank Holder only got 3 years....i dont see you complaining.Wait,it's because he is white and Cantu is latino. The U.S justice system has failed.
I'm latino and I do not believe the justice system failed. He should have got more time. He did not have a drinking problem and he could have made money leagally like the rest of his neighbors. So he has to pay for his mistakes like anyone should. I wish more people thought about the people he pointed the gun at instead of just feeling sorry for him!!!!!!!!
