OK, ethnicity aside...How do WE (everyone) change this culture of violence? Where are our so called Leaders: Villar, Delgadillo, Molina, Ulmos, I don't know...Name one, who can stand up, and hold up the mirror to society and address this Cultural Cancer???

Forget your leaders, you need to clean up communities own your own--you are the people that live there.

15 years ago, Covina, West Covina, Duarte, Monrovia did not have these problems. Drive bys dont happen in Walnut, the community does not look the other way, shut their eyes, etc.

The picture of the sobbing friend tells me a lot about this shooting.

Stop waiting for your leaders to fix your communities, fix them or move on.

That sounds like a pretty hard job, with all due respect it seems to me that this 2nd 3rd generation of all races dont appreciate or value life. I remember when I was groing up the whorse thing that would happen is getting "shanked" and ussually was with a pencil/pen and have no doubt the culprit was ussually known/called a puss*y. Now a days everyone has and resorts to using a gun. I strongly believe that the only way out of this is actually killing lifers or people that will get the death penalty, place stricter laws and deport all illegals doing time in jail/prison, and make sure the border patrol doesnt let the idiots back in. Not only illegals but the whole prison generation is to my point of view over valued. Why in the kahoots have tv's or any type of appliances in jail? Why spend over 10K a year on a prisoner that is doing time in jail not for being a good person but for committing a crime.
If stricter laws are not applied, along with pro-active police force (GANG INJUCTIONS) nothing will change, these IDIOTS dont listen to their mother, never the less to a so called "leader" like Villar, Delgadillo, Molina, Ulmos... to my point of view all "leaders"are in for their pay check NOTHING ELSE.
Hopefully one day this changes, It makes me think what the next generations will bring?

Exactly right! More to the point, violence abatement starts in the HOME with a strong Dad, and Mom (the best Leaders) as role models with a moral conviction to instill right from wrong. With a 50% illegitimacy rate among Hispanics, and 70% among the Blacks, the source of the problem is obvious...

Is there no end to the thug mentality?

My daughter and grandson live close to that area...it make me nervous to know that all of us could be the innocent victim of a shooting.

The police just cant do that. They must have probable cause.just like when you stop at a sobriety check, and if they smell alcohol or see you in intoxicated then they have probable cause to pull you to the side and do sobriety tests. So if you dont have probable cause then it would be considered unreasonable search.

Limp wristed handling created this environment. You must adopt almost "Sadaam" like justice. Super aggressive. Yeah, be honest, the cops almost must be a "Super Gang". Tolerate nothing. All involved, even with limited knowledge of whats going down, must be identified, pulled out of the home, and do heavy time! Random, persistent stops and searches, with mandatory 10 years with gang enhancement, for bangers found with guns. You may need to re-write the constitution, well, maybe not yet, but without a super aggressive dominant, take no prisoners, approach, you get what we got......panty waste, puny, bull..........

So when they pull some guy over with "FLORES" tattoed on his face they immediately search for a gun. Then off to prison.

No, the area is in the city of Covina, not the unincorporated area. This can happen in any community. These gangs are very mobile.

This must be a gang initiation rite. To just go randomly shoot anyone.

When will the cops get tough with these gangs.

They need to do more head kicking.

Don't fall into that trap. They shot up the front of the store. Anybody who went inside fora Cola, slurpee, whatever, could have been a victim. This notion of "targeted" hits is bull. Anyone could have been a victim.
