Has anyone paid attention to the lastest city council minutes dated June 24.

Resolution 08-23 - has been passed and approved by the Fearless "Conservative" La Mirada City Council.

Basically the retirement age for City Manager was lowered from Age 55 to Age 50.

Splash Aquatics Coordinator gets pay raise from $56,000 to $67,000.

Nice to know our City Council haven't stopped spending our tax money.

i don't know if that is true, but why is it not fair? The City does not get any school dollars so why should we pay for Norwalk/La Mirada School District programs? Let them build their own pool.

You do not pay one cent in city Taxes to La Mirada, unless you are a business owner.

I would Formally Like to Apologize to everyone on this Discussion Comment - in my hurry and rush to judgement I am blaming the wrong people - This discussion comment was not thought out completely before I posted it.

I do apologize and I am in the process of composing a letter to send to Susan Tripp to apologize for my remarks where I am clearly in the wrong. Thank you everyone.

What are you rambling about? Who is screwing La Mirada kids? By your logic the City should build a band room for the band, a new stadium for the football team, etc. Learn the difference between the school district and the City. Me personally, I don't have kids in High School so I could care less about the School District paying a small $3000 fee to use a state of the art facility. Everyone else does stupid.

When the process started to build Splash the city used the swim team as a stepping stone to get community approval and after one year raised the price to three times what they charged previously. Maybe NLMUSD should start charging the city to use their outdoor basketball courts for practice for the city ran basketball league. This city is starting to get very anti youth sports unless they are running it and in control. I know when there was talk of La Mirada splitting with Norwalk in the school disrtict the city informally talked of taking it over if it ever happened...what a fiasco that would be.

Did you ever consider that the City is not the problem, and maybe the school district is? I know at my son's elementry school, the principal tried using the pool for an outing and the School District would not allow it.

Regardless, there is still a cost of doing business and I don't see how charging for use of the pool for the swim team somehow makes the City "anti youth sports"

It just seems like a one way street with the city. Why would the city use the premise of the high school having access to the pool at a reduced price and then going back on their word after the pool is built. This was not said when Splash was proposed.

I heard that several organizations donated money to the construction. I believe La Mirada Armada, for example, gave $1 million. How much did the LM swim team give?
