Well, not so sure I did, but it seems to me from
other threads and forums as if a police patrole (1 or 2 officers) come into a situation like this
they (often?)end up fixing it alone - with fatal results in stead of calling in colleagues to
intercept etc.
That's what was in my mind but I phrased it well.
To be shot dead (whatever the ammo) for panicing
or trying to escape from police for just "stupid" reasons is hardly optimal for the police force as such either I would think.
He was not "shot dead". Tasers don't kill people. Get it through your mind. He probably would have died in a physical struggle also.
Why are you defendin this guy? Do you have a criminal background or use crystal meth??

You actually place yourself upon a completely wrong platform when you comment like this. No, I am not defending this man - he is dead. I am interested in knowing attitudes around the way your police work (or have to work??) leading to som many killings in different ways every year.
That is next to an unknown phenomenon where I live - and our police officers are not armed unless a situation requires and then some special forces/trained officers go to action. In- I guess- 99,9 % of such cases the problem get solved without the police having to kill - and they do their utmost to avoid it. I am not so sure all your police officers work that way - or think that to save life is the primary goal - whoever it is.
You may be right this guy was heavy on meth - but do YOU know he was? May be that was the reason he died but I expect then that the police have vast experience with that problem and take their precautions accordingly. Did they in this case - or did they not take height for such a possibility when deciding to use the taser(s) against him?
I am not sure, but I'm interested to hear your and any other American's opinion -as long as they are not the kind you present above.
(And for the record: I've never taken, or will never take any kind of drugs - and never in life had anything unspoken with the police. So, in fact, you barked up the wrong tree, mate! You've got nothing to earn from continuing that way either, ok?)

There are two very important morals to this story:

1. Obey the law.

2. Don't run from the police.

Only a criminal would run from the police. We need to be more concerned with the rights and welfare of law abiding citizens, not criminals.

Two interesting observations:

1. They are all 'innocent'.

2. They are all 'cousins'.

Once again, a sad ending to a sadder life of drug abuse and criminal activity. The survivors live in denial of the truth. This is story of consequences... face the facts and learn from it instead of trying to rationalize the criminal behavior. It's already been stated numerous times and I'll reiterate it: don't run from the police.

Ok, in a way I can understand you. Cultures coliding...?
Not exactly to this thread, but generally on use of guns(of any kinds) against other human beings.
Do you remember Andrew Golden And Michell Johnson,
11 and 13 yrs old having stolen guns from a grandfather (who taught Andrew Golden (11) to shoot since 5 or 6 yrs old)and shot 4 students and a teacher at a school in 1998 ??
Today Andrew golden is 21 and free (the fact he has been imprisoned at age of 11/12 is unheard of
here). That case demonstrates something of the American way of dealing with guns in the society and some of the consequences.
(I am not against guns in private ownership)
the police shoot, the criminals shoot, offended fathers shoot, youngsters shoot, accidents flourish..
Not a big deal in your eyes of course that one person died from being hit by ("a few thousands" shots from) tasers - normally not killing...
I'm not really blaming the police officer(s) having shot - I'd rather question the entire attitude and values you all worship. I think
those are your most serious barrier to understand
and liase with a lot of other societies today...

I find it sad from the few comments that are posted of how ignorant people are. No one but James and the police really know what happened. ALL people must take responsibility for their actions. In this case both James and the COPS involved. Shame to all the rest of you to comment.

I say pull the cops out of SAN'tana...ESE! Let all the F'd up homies multiply. Then they can run the city just like the "Familia's" use to in Ti-jua-na! Good for the cop who tazed the A-hole. Be like every other good citizen, take the ticket, appeal in court. There is a new thing going around...it called "excited delirium" For all those who wish to explore the truth...check it out. You can google it. A lot of drug addicts can die, btw and its not the Polices' fault. For all those uneducated idiots, you may want to take a peek, that is if Section 8 can afford it.

Sorry Latinos, you only cry when it happens to you, not when it happens to a WHITE, BLACK, ASIAN person. You are not the minority in Santa Ana, everyone else is. He ran from the police, "had a bad heart" (how would the police know since he ran)? Take your pain and grow up. Dont blame others because you are dumb enough to run.

Relatively speaking, Norway has very liitle crime.
Please take a look at what law enforcement officers in your country must endure by not being too careful. Good luck in maintaining that force!
Police officer shot dead in Nyk÷ping
http://www.thelocal.se/7667/20070620/
With all respect: Nyk°ping is in Sweden. Stockholm
is the capitol of Sweden. Sweden is a different country from Norway. The police in Sweden is armed. The police in Norway (and England fyg) are
unarmed. We have no jurisdiction of Sweden and no political say, because we are Norwegians - live in Norway and our capitol is Oslo. Our parliament is named Stortinget. The Swedish parliament is named: Riksdagen. And we haven't lost a police officers in years. and our police officers haven't killed anyone in years - and we have a very low crime rate, as do Sweden compared to USA who has the highest crime rate (by far!!) of all industrialized countries.
What else can I say....?

SNJ Norway, you don't live here so it's hard for you to understand. Most Americans in large cities, even small towns, don't go walking at night for fear of being shot. It's not like it used to be. When I drive under a bridge I wonder if some idiot is going to drop a rock on me.
If I get lost at night in my car near Los Angeles I would be a FOOL to stop people and ask directions. Just driving on our freeways you take your life in your hands....if it isn't road rage it's some kid with a gun!
We have thousands of illegals here doing every illegal thing you can imagine. People here will walk into a store and blow someones head off, THEN ask for the money.
The Cops don't play around with people here. America is run by rich lawyers and businessmen and everything here is going to Hell! There are starving people here and George Bush is giving millions of dollars to NORTH KOREA! God help us!!
I guess you are the most honest American I have seen posting in the various fora (forums) I have been visiting over the last 12 months.
You hit my stomach now.
We do walk out during evenings and nights and our kids take the bus to the town/city (yes, politically we have given priority to public transport)- seeing a movie or seeing friends and coming back home the same way - after dark, walking alone the 300 yards from the bus stop- and we are not worried, because chances that something like this shall happen to us or them are so remote we simply cannot think that way.
You have "lost" your society - but how do you think you can have it back?

Yes, you are an ignorant Texan, and undoubtedly a stupid cop trying to defend other stupid cops for murdering - and using under the influence as a guise. This pig of a human deserves jail time.
