Are we their keepers? Now that we know we have been feed a bunch of BS as to their quality, should we continue buying Japanese cars at the expense of our economy?
Or should we get wise and quit being Japan’s cash cow.
For years now the Japanese have been draining billions from our economy. They feed on us; 31% of their income from car sales comes from the USA.
Yearly, they sell us millions of vehicles. With domino effect, this has cost us jobs, jobs, jobs, millions of them. And we don’t know it.
Do some of us still think they’re cool, better?
Hello! How about those recently disclosed Toyota car and truck safety defects, which have taken as many as 54 lives (that we know about) in the last 6 years! And we now know those acceleration problems go back to the 90s.
Moreover, we also now know about steering defects in Corollas and rusty frames on Tundra and Tacoma trucks.
And Honda has problems too. Out there are about a million potentially deadly Honda airbags! How long have have they known about this?
Then there’s Mitsubishi. It’s coming out now that for years this maker has been systematically hiding defects.
Wow! Talk about Japanese quality, integrity! What a bunch of HOGWASH!
Anyway, why have so many people chosen them? Well, for 20 years now, publications have been recommending, selling them, in essence.
And they’ve done this supposedly for free. That’s billions of dollars of free, highly effective advertising that’s given Japanese cars what we now know to be, an UNDESERVED stamp of quality at the expense of our safety and economy. And publications have done this for free? Does that pass a smell test?
Whatever, it’s been indirect bashing of American industry. And it has taken a drastic toll on our economy. We’ve lost millions of jobs as result.
But there’s hope: Considering today’s 15 million jobless, those of us bitten by “JapaneseCaritis,” might now be reflecting:“Hey, maybe we’ve made things worse.” So, those who now see the light, when they get their next cars or trucks, hopefully their common sense will push them back to AMERICAN ones.
They’ll realize,“Charity begins at home. By driving American, they can put a lot of people back to work and keep them working!
Bottom line: We need to quit driving so many Japanese cars. Now, that’ll be a challenge, because America’s top seller is a Camry! Ironically, it's a potential-killer-runaway car.
Anyway, because we're such suckers for the Japanese, over there, they must really love us. As said, every year their economy reaps billions from us.
In any case, it makes no sense to let them feed on us. And it’s absurd that some of us feel sorry for them that they’re losing business.
In any case, considering the way the Japanese have been covering up defects, stalling in remedying them, how can we trust them?
Then there’s this: Japanese automakers are controlled from Japan. Uncle Sam has much less say so over them. So, when we drive their cars and trucks, we don’t have as much protection as we do when we drive American.
But back to the main point: To help our sad job situation, we need to focus on how much it costs our economy when we drive Japanese instead of American.
If enough of us reflect on that and follow through in our personal choices, we can really help put people back to work.
So, we should DRIVE AMERICAN: for two darn good reasons:(1) we’ll be safer and (2) we’ll help our own economy, not some foreign country’s.
P.S. Please join this cause. Under "share" up at the top, hit that little envelope and send this message to as many people as possible.
And to those who still want to drive Japanese cars and trucks: LOTS OF LUCK, and keep your life insurance up!
