This is an assinine law! Blacks call each other the N word every day, what about them? While this mayor is making Stupid laws to earn revenue tell him to add these words to his list, red-neck, cracker, honky, white trash, trailer park trash, just to name a few. Also add these to be fair, faggot, queer, gay wad,we have to cover all the negatives to be fair!!!

you CANNOT legislate morality. Oh yea, Mr. Mayor, heard of the first amendment!

Growing up in Mississippi, I never heard the "N" word, not from my parents, grandparents, friends, school...not anywhere. These days, I hear it everyday. ON THE RADIO in RAP MUSIC!!! What makes the "N" word worse than any other offensive word. The word TRASH can cut someone just as deep. Do we outlaw that word? What about STUPID? SORRY? Get real Mr. Mayor. As phil from FL cannot legislate this. What you can do is encourage your town not to buy music or listen to music that uses profanity or the "N" word.

I know Mayor Ken Corley, personally. He is a very decent person, however, I don't necessarily agree with his view on oulawing the use of the "n" word. The part that I find sad in all of this is the effect on his grandchildren. The backlash from all of this has greatly affected his family, and they are dealing with the consequences of his actions. This is a very small community and everbody knows everybody. There is a small town not far from Brazoria that once was run exclusively by the KKK. I doubt they have all moved away from this area. I personally fear for the safety of this family.

OK Mayor Corley wake up! Are you for real trying to propose a city wide ordinance for uttering the "N" word???????? Lets look at some basic facts that you have overlooked:
1) Will the blacks be fined for uttering this word? They call themselves this.
2) Are you going to propose a citywide ordinance for blacks using the word honkey? cracker? whitey?
Thats three more ordinances you have to introduce, unless you want to appear unfair to the white race.
3) What ordinances are you going to propose for the Asians, Arabs, Spanish? You must introduce one on their behal and the other races as well..
This is unheard of what you are trying to do. WAKE UP!!

This is political correctness run amok and I am certainly going to be adding Mayor Corley to the PC hall of shame at . As the author of "Dodgeball", it strikes me that it would be more sensible to ban political correctness rather than undermining the first amendment.

you ppl r a trip. r u mad because that would mean you can't use the word anymore? LOL I think all offensive names should be banned. I don't care if the list is 100 words long. Yes, I'm african-american and NO ONE should use the word. No I don't use it but you know what; ignorance is bliss. You ppl sure r happy. LOL
God Bless.

i hear balacks saying the "n" word to each other more than i have ever heard it from any other race. where does this stop? what about calling a white a cracker? what about orientals, hispanics, germans,po lish jokes, those with other sexual orientations? if this passes alot of people can make easy money by suing for discrimination because your not protecting them from being called names. if you want to be fair you need to ban all those words. because i care i will help offset your expenses by allowing you to sue me for calling you a "blooming idiot"

Did this guy ever read the First Amendment? There are many words that are offensive to one group or another, but we cannot legally under the Constitution ban any of them. Send this moron back to school. Oops, is moron an offensive word?
