Seriously. Don't let kids drive sports cars. You're only asking for a situation like this one. Very sad situation. Prayers for the families.

What a sad thing when kids think that they are invincible...they just don't understand that driving at that speed is sure to kill someone. If not someone in the car then surely someone outside the car. My condolences to both of these young adults families. This is going to be a tough Holiday coming up for a lot of people I'm sure. Death...it is the final frontier.

I happen to think that the days of chasing people should end. The police can always meet the guy at his home later- there's no need to run him off the road- don't think he won't eventually turn up- just be patient.

This is truly too sad. A young life snuffed out because of stupidity.

Sympathies to her family.

you are an idiot. this guy was going 117mph before the police even tried to stop him. And how are you going to know where he lives to go get him later? he was going too damn fast for the police to see his license plate, if it even belonged to the car it was on. The only person at fault here is the driver of the car. The police only tried to stop his criminal activity of reckless driving. people like you amaze me at the absurdity of your comments.

The State Trooper did NOT run him off the road - the kid did it all himself. Consequences of decisions.......

The guy was clocked going 117 MPH before the officer pursued.

Holy cow - it isn't just about "catching" the guy, it's about preventing him from crashing into other people along the way before he decides to settle down! It is a terrible tragedy that his passenger was killed, but he was traveling at an extreme rate of speed before he was chased! The police didn't do that and they certainly may have contained the damage to one car rather than allowing him to continue and involve others.

Hopefully he dies in the hospital. Someone that stupid and careless shouldn't be allowed to live even if it is in jail.
I ususally don't make comments, but I couldn't pass this one up. Obviously, Hahahaha has never lost someone near and dear! Haven't you ever made bad decisions as a teenager? This is a very tragic situation for 2 families. I can't believe that you would stoop so low as to think that this individual should die. Sometimes, it's people that are so judgemental that find themselves having to deal with similar situations. Maybe if you're faced with it some day, you will begin to have a little bit more compassion! What a tough lesson to have to learn!

And you would be the first one complaining when they run over your loved one and would sue the police for letting the driver go.

They should install a device in cars that the police could put out a signal and kill the motor instantly until then, shoot the driver.

Try reading a license plate when you're doing 50 and a car passes you doing 117. Also, prove that the person the car is registered to is the one driving. Prove that somebody didn't steal the car, take it for a joyride and return it.

It's likely that this kid saw the lights come on, got scared, punched it, and then went and lost control. I'm guessing the Troopers couldn't even see the car when it crashed.

If the driver lives, he will have a Hell of a price to pay barring any legal sentencing.
But not nearly the price of his girlfriend's family and loved ones.

Very sad anytime a young life is lost senselessly.

Are you real? The story says the car was going 117 MPH at the time the police first saw it. Maybe the devil was in hot pursuit. Problem is, wrong person got killed. No justice.

I happen to go along with what Jon said about giving a kid a sports car like that that will run that Damn fast. That is totally stupid. Kids now days like that along with their parents that was stupid enough to give there kid a death trap have no business with a machine that can only get someone either hurt or killed because most kids do not have sense enough to be driving something like that. Beside that kind of speed should be left to the race care drivers that do it on a track and not out in the open public where they are doing nothing but asking for trouble. This kids parents need to be locked up just as well as the kid for being so stupid as to give a kid a car that fast to start with, You can get mad at me if you want I don't care. But I myself have kids that drive on the highways with their children in the car I and I don't want them killed because of some stupid idiot like this. My prayers are with the family of this young girl that lost her life do to stupidity.
